The Ality approach to teaching leadership is that every person has what it takes to be a leader. At the same time, there are some people who are born with leadership traits, like confidence, enthusiasm, and integrity.

If you are someone who naturally assumes leadership positions in groups, and you can convert ideas into practical ‘down-to-earth’ strategies, you might be the Mountain type in the AlityConnect profile.

Your immovable ‘mountain’ nature can be both your strength and your great lesson. Your challenge is to develop flexibility. You can deal with this challenge by learning to trust that others can carve out their own path.

If you want to know more about your connection type, take the AlityConnect assessment, and see how you can understand your strengths in connecting with others.

Here we are again, able to be social. But remember, you don't have to be the universal connector all the time. It's important to honor your emotional needs rather than always adapting yourself to the situation.

How do you make others feel?

We only have a certain amount of psychological energy and we can choose to focus that energy on ourselves or on others. Focusing on others always makes us feel better.

If you know a person who easily puts you and others at ease, and someone you can talk to for hours, then this person must have the Nurturer's First Impression Profile.

Nurturers have a genuine care for others and this comes through in their body language and spoken communication. As a result, people feel good in their company even at first meeting.

The Nurturer's communication style is innately nurturing, so other people may take advantage of their caring nature. They may talk over or talk at them, without regard for the person's experience of connection. So if you know someone or you're a nurturer yourself, you should find balance between your empathy and boundaries.

Some people are very good at showing empathy and caring for others. But sometimes, these very same people forget about themselves and their boundaries, and they become a sponge that absorbs everything. They take in more than they can handle.

Are you this type of person? If so, you might have the Ocean Connection type. These people are nurturers, but their challenge is developing boundaries around empathy.

If you are an Ocean type, you should try being more honest with how you truly feel. If you need a break, give yourself a break. Learn to nurture yourself too.

What's the operating rhythm of your team?

How often do you meet?
How often do you connect?
Have you talked to your team about how they work best?

The leader sets the tone and pace for the team. It's best to do this in consultation rather than assuming that everyone can keep your pace.
