Primary students joined thousands of children across the country in celebrating National Simultaneous Storytime with this year’s featured title, Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller by Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd.
Students swapped one item of their uniform for their team colours to add to the fun and enjoyed coming together to share the joy of reading, imagination and storytelling as they listened to the inspiring underdog story about a spirited kangaroo who overcomes self-doubt as captain of her soccer team, FC Outback. It was a wonderful opportunity to inspire a love of books and celebrate the magic that stories bring to our classrooms.

This Student of the Week has shown significant progress in the way he accepts constructive feedback and has made conscious efforts to reflect and respond positively. The student consistently demonstrates care for his environment by taking initiative in keeping the school clean, even when he has not been responsible for the litter.
Through his interactions with peers, he has applied concepts learnt in the “Open Parachute” program, particularly the importance of “agreeing to disagree.”
A significant area of growth has been his ability to manage his reactions thoughtfully. Rather than responding impulsively, he has taken time to consider polite and respectful ways to communicate.
He has also been a helpful and considerate member of the school community, regularly offering assistance to teachers whenever possible. Overall, he has developed into a respectful, responsible, and community-minded student.
This student has demonstrated the school’s motto, Believe, Belong, Become by showing meaningful personal growth and a genuine commitment to the school community.
Congratulations to Aren Krikour of Year 9.

On Friday 22 May, Years 1 and 2 students visited YHA Sydney Harbour for an exciting journey back in time to discover what school and daily life were like in the 1800s. Through pictorial sources, videos and interviews, students had fun exploring how we learn about the past.
Students also became junior archaeologists, excavating and analysing artefacts in an archaeological dig to uncover what life was like for children living in The Rocks during the 1800s.

Congratulations to the Year 7 and Year 8 students who proudly represented the College at this year’s da Vinci Decathlon held at Knox Grammar School.
The da Vinci Decathlon is a prestigious academic competition which brings together more than 150 teams from over 100 public, selective and private schools. Designed to challenge and inspire students, the competition spans 10 disciplines: engineering, mathematics and chess, code breaking, art and poetry, science, English, ideation, creative producers, cartography, and legacy.
We are extremely proud of our students, who represented the College with enthusiasm, integrity and pride. They embodied the true values of a Galstaun student by working respectfully and collaboratively as a team, while demonstrating commitment, determination and excellence throughout the competition.
We look forward to the results being announced and thank Ms Sobbel and Ms Anderson for their guidance and support leading up to the Decathlon.

This week’s Student of the Week consistently demonstrates the values of Believe, Belong, Become through her attitude, actions, and sportsmanship. She always follows instructions, listens carefully, and approaches every task with positivity and determination. During PISA, she gives her best effort at all times and treats everyone with kindness and respect.
Whether winning or losing, she remains gracious, calm, and encouraging to those around her, helping her teammates to feel supported and included. She believes in always doing her best, helps others to belong through her respectful and uplifting nature, and continues to become a wonderful role model for her peers.
