🏹 North Shore Archery Cup

On Saturday, St Ives hosted the inaugural North Shore Archery Cup, the first inter-school competition of its kind, run in partnership with Sydney Archery and Grammar Life.

We were delighted to welcome Knox Grammar School, Mosman Preparatory School and Wahroonga Preparatory School, with 40 boys taking part across the afternoon.

With perfect weather, there was plenty of concentration, fun and friendly competition on display - along with some impressive bullseyes! 🎯

Following the competition, parents joined the boys on the range for a β€˜Come & Try’ session, which was a great way to finish the afternoon.

Congratulations to Wahroonga Prep, who were crowned the inaugural North Shore Archery Cup champions, and well done to all the boys who competed.

A fantastic first year for the competition, and we look forward to seeing it grow in the years ahead.

πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ CIS Athletics Championships

Last Friday, nine St Ives boys competed at the CIS Athletics Championships at Homebush - the second-highest representation of any boys’ school.

We had outstanding results in the relays, with the Junior 4x100m team finishing 2nd and the Senior team finishing 3rd. Both teams have now qualified for the State Championships next term, with St Ives the only school to have both a Junior and Senior relay team qualify this year.

The boys also produced some strong individual results across the track and field events, including two 4th-place finishes in the 100m, as well as top-10 finishes in the 200m, Long Jump and Shot Put.

A fantastic achievement and a great reflection of the work the boys have put in throughout the athletics season. Well done, boys!

πŸ“š Book Week 2026

Last week, St Ives celebrated Book Week, with plenty happening across the School as we celebrated books, characters and reading.

The week finished with our annual Book Week Parade, with boys and staff embracing this year’s school theme, The Wizard of Oz, alongside plenty of other favourite book characters.

There was also the annual staff play, and of course, the much-anticipated appearance of Pirates Cranna and Fraser!

There were some fantastic costumes on display and plenty of creativity from boys across all year groups.

A wonderful week celebrating books and reading at St Ives!

πŸ”¬ The Great Grammar Science Fair 2026

Last week, our annual Science Fair took over the Hall for two days, with an amazing range of experiments, investigations and displays created by the boys.

There was plenty of imagination and creativity on show, with boys from across the School, staff and parents coming through to explore the exhibits and see the experiments in action.

Well done to all the boys who entered, and a big thank you to Mr Germaine and Mrs Scott for organising another fantastic Science Fair.

🎭 The Mikado – 2026 Musical Production

Last Friday evening and Saturday afternoon, our boys took to the stage for The Mikado, a colourful, manga-inspired adaptation of the Gilbert and Sullivan classic.

The performances were truly exceptional, with the cast, crew and orchestra bringing the production to life across two fantastic shows. From the music and performances to the incredible costumes, sets and visuals, an enormous amount of work went into every aspect of the production.

Well done to all the boys involved, both on stage and behind the scenes, and thank you to the many staff and parents who helped make it possible.

A special thank you to Tonya Grelis, Ms Wheatley, Mrs Fane, and Mr Vickers for the extraordinary amount of work that went into bringing The Mikado to life.

πŸŽ™οΈ The Grammar Life Podcast

We are excited to launch the Grammar Life Podcast, a new addition to Grammar Life at St Ives!

As part of this term’s Podcasting activity, five Year 6 boys have taken on the challenge of producing their own podcast – planning the episode, developing segments, writing questions, conducting interviews and recording the final show.

In Episode 1, the boys recap the Gold Coast Football Tour, go behind the scenes of The Mikado, put their listeners to the test in a Game Show, and look back at the Years 3–6 Athletics Carnival, with a special staff interview.

A fantastic first episode from the boys, and a great example of the creativity, initiative and confidence our boys bring to Grammar Life.

πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ Year 3–6 Athletics Carnival

A couple of weeks ago, our Year 3–6 boys enjoyed a fantastic day at the Homebush Warm-Up Track for the annual Athletics Carnival.

Whether they were running on the track, competing in the field event finals, or earning valuable points in the House challenges, the boys embraced the day with great sportsmanship and plenty of competitive spirit.

πŸ†πŸ”΄ Congratulations to Cowper House, who were crowned 2026 Athletics Champions, and well done to all the boys for a fantastic carnival.

πŸ€– VEX Robotics Competition

Today, our Grammar Life VEX teams competed at Trinity Grammar School in the school’s first ever VEX Robotics competition.

Across eight matches, three Skills Challenges, and team interviews, the boys refined their robots, solved problems, adapted their designs and worked together throughout the day.

Competing against many older and more experienced teams, our Year 6 team finished 10th overall in the Skills Challenge out of 36 teams, while our Year 5 team placed 13th in the main competition.

The Year 5 team also won the Judges Award, recognising their interview with the judges and presentation of their robot.

A fantastic effort by all the boys, and an exciting milestone for our VEX Robotics programme. Well done, boys, and thank you to our coach, Thomas.
