Help CEMS Club Sydney 2018 make a difference 10/05/2018

On the 20th of May, a group of runners from our S1 2018 cohort will hit the Sydney Morning Herald Half-Marathon and run a solid 21km. As part of the run, the Club & participants have also decided to fundraise for a cause that we particularly care about and that is meaningful.

We will be supporting 'RUOK?', a su***de prevention charity that aims to start life-changing conversations.

‘RUOK?’ aims at creating a more connected world and we believe we can offer them our support given our strong connection as CEMSies.

Let’s all spread the word and donate, even a small sum, to the fundraising page here: https://smh2018halfmarathon.everydayhero.com/au/cems-club-sydney-2018

We all count on your support & hope to contribute to changing lives for the best. ❤️

Last Wednesday, CEMSies kicked-off the first event of the Worldwide Wednesday series. This initiative has been brought to the cohort by the wonderful Social Team and the idea is that every fortnight on a Wednesday, CEMSies will try out cuisines from all over the world. The aim of these events is to get out of our culinary comfort zone and be curious about cultures that surround us to learn more about their traditional food.

As an opening, students' culinary senses travelled to China with a delicious (and spicy) Hot Pot! Next time, CEMSies are off to Pakistan!

The first night was absolutely fantastic, with over 40 students turning up, so thank you to everyone who made this evening a real success 😊

Last Friday, the traditional CEMS & Management Boat Party around Sydney harbour took place.
It was a great night filled with 4 hours of stunning views, a golden sunset, salsa dancing and just a few drinks 😉
We would like to thank all CEMSies who attended and made this night a very memorable one!
PS: Tag yourselves on the photo!

The past couple of weeks have been quite hectic for our CEMSies!

On the 26th of February, the semester kicked off with Orientation Day, involving some local hunt and small challenges around Sydney and the Botanical Garden.

It was then followed by two intense days of Responsible Global Leadership Seminar, one of which taking place at the iconic Manly Beach- because who doesn’t like a seminar on the beach?

Needless to say that the Orientation dinner was also a huge success and enabled the cohort to bond together as they went off for a Salsa night afterwards.

Followed was the CEMS traditional Surf Camp at Seven Mile Beach, 2 hours South of Sydney. The intense weekend has left our CEMSies sore and sunburnt but with incredible surfing skills 😉

The second week was also intense for those undertaking the Business Project, which just kicked off on Monday. However, it did not prevent CEMSies to go out for some international food, play football or grab some drinks.

Below are some photos which showcase the beginning of an awesome semester full of events!

Thank you to all CEMSies who attended those events and made the first two weeks so memorable!

As always, there will be more to come 😊

During the closing event of the CEMS mentoring program, CEMS mentors and mentees visited the Archie Rose Distillery, learned how gin and whiskey are made, and got to try a variety of tasty gins.

We would like to thank all the CEMS alumni who participated in the program and acted as a mentor for our CEMSies this semester! You have been of great help to our students by supporting them in their personal and professional development.

As part of Global Sustainability week some of our CEMSies went on a company visit to Lendlease. We would like to thank Ro Coroneos, Community and Social Strategy Manager, and Darren Tan, Development Engagement Executive of Lendlease. They demonstrated to the students the various areas that Lendlease engages not only with local communities, but enforces their sustainable business practices through social projects, community development and engagement with key stakeholders.

Big shoutout for for arranging a CEMS tour at their sustainable brewery in Newtown. They've been taking us around educating our students about sustainability and their service to community. Big thumbs up! Remarkable brewery, with outstanding local beer!

Yesterday morning, the Women in Business networking breakfast took place. It was a great opportunity for our CEMSies to have a chat with female industry experts and academics, share stories and learn about each other’s experiences.

Some of our dedicated CEMSies donated blood today to the Red Cross Blood Donation Centre as a part of the Global Sustainability Week. It was a good chance to make a serious difference to another life on our wonderful planet! ❤️🌏👫
