A few days ago, we celebrated Lunar New Year in the most special (and delicious!) way 🥟✨♥️

Our little ones had the chance to get hands-on and learn how dumplings are made, exploring each step and actively participating in the process. It was such a fun and meaningful experience for them—learning through doing!

A big thank you to one of our lovely mums and our educators who, thanks to their cultural background, guided the experience and made it even more authentic and meaningful ❤️

🏮🎨Little artists celebrating Lunar New Year at Butterflies ELC
Our preschoolers had a wonderful time painting red lanterns while learning about the traditions of Lunar New Year. This creative experience encouraged self-expression, supported fine motor development, and helped the children explore and appreciate different cultures and celebrations around the world.

It was lovely to see them experimenting with colours, sharing materials, and proudly showing their beautiful lanterns. ❤️✨

🐍🦎 Reptile Encounters at Butterflies ELC!

Our Preschool and Toddlers enjoyed an exciting reptile incursion with Andrew from Live Reptile Displays! The children observed real snakes, lizards and other fascinating creatures up close, asked thoughtful questions, and shared their wonder and curiosity.

Our live animal experience supported children’s learning by building their confidence, expanding vocabulary, and encouraging inquiry and respect for living things. This experience supports Childrens connection and contribution to their world and shows them as confident and involved learners through hands-on exploration and meaningful conversations, all of which Andrew and his reptiles made possible.

What an amazing way to bring science and nature to life at our service 🌿

Book Week-"Book an Adventure"

This year’s Book Week theme, “Book an Adventure,” is all about sparking imagination and bringing stories to life! Throughout the week, children will step into magical story worlds through a range of book-inspired dramatic play and sensory experiences.

Here’s a sneak peek at our adventures:
• Gruffalo’s Campfire Experience – Gather around the “campfire” for storytelling and role play.
• Construction Zone – Put on a hard hat and get busy building and creating.
• Pirate Cove – Set sail, follow the map, and hunt for treasure.
• Make Your Own Wand – Inspired by The Tooth Fairy: A Magical Journey, children design their own magical wands with gems, glitter, paint, and natural materials.
• Under the Sea Sensory & Disco Party Room – Dive deep into a glowing underwater world filled with music, movement, and sensory fun.

Why it’s important:

These adventures do not just bring joy and excitement —they help children build key skills in language, creativity, imagination, problem-solving, and social play.

From storytelling around the campfire to dancing under the sea, each experience encourages confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of books.

Children & Family Involvement

We’d love our families to join in the adventure! Children are encouraged to bring along their favourite book to share with their class. These will be read together around the Gruffalo’s campfire.

Parents and carers are warmly invited to read a story to their child’s class during drop-off or pick-up.

We can’t wait to celebrate this special week of learning, laughter, and adventure with our little readers—and their families too!

We'd like to thank you for your enthusiastic donation and it has reached above our initial goal ($150). So far we have received a total of $347 in total from our families and your extended social networks such as friends, relatives and colleagues.

A special thank you to Freddie's mum who asked her colleagues to donate for the children under Foster Care too. To appreciate all of our families and children's support, we have decided to extend our PJ day for one more fun day on Thursday (31/7). If you missed it last Friday, please dress up your child in PJ, and we will have a Disco on Thursday too. Golden coin will still be acceptable and the collection container is placed near the lift lobby where the apples are.

Below is the link for online donation, and there's no time limit.

We received a total of $84.35 from the Cookies Sales on Thursday last week. Thanks for our families' generosity. All this money will go to Variety to support children with disabilities.
It was such a meaningful experience that involved mathematical thinking, community involvement, and confidence to communicate with adults and teamwork. We will plan some similar experiences in the near future as requested by families and children.
