We have had some egg-citing weeks at A Place to Grow Academy. ๐Ÿ˜Š

As Part of our Easter Celebrations, the children participated in various arts and craft activities and learned about Easter traditions through group times, conversations and games.

For Orthodox Easter, the children got to take part in traditional egg-dying activities and the famous egg-cracking event. ๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿ–Œ๐Ÿฅš

Children have a strong sense of identity and respect diversity. They are connected with and contribute to their world.

Easter Surprise ๐Ÿฐ
Yesterday, our students had two fluffy and very adorable visitors. ๐Ÿ‡

Our chef, F***y, brought her pet bunnies Darrel and Poo Bear to surprise the children.

The Explorers and Investigators learned that bunnies are prey animals and therefore donโ€™t like to get picked up as much as other animals do. The children were very gentle, empathetic and quiet around their new bunny friends and made sure not to scare them. They also learned that bunnies are very social, and watched them cuddling and cleaning each other and should therefore always have a bunny companion.
The children fed them hay, fresh grass and their favourite treat which all children knew to be carrots. ๐Ÿฅฌ๐Ÿฅ•๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿฝโ€๐ŸŒพ
After a beautiful morning of engaging with them and observing them in detail, the children came back to check on the bunnies and noticed they were sleeping with their eyes open. ๐Ÿ˜ด
What an exciting experience for the children and they learned so much by asking curious questions and observing their furry visitors patiently.
For afternoon tea, the children asked for extra carrots and couldnโ€™t get enough, our bunny visitors must have really inspired them. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿฅ•

The children explored St. Patrickโ€™s Day by engaging in various activities, including Irish Dancing,
Irish fairy tale stories, letting the fairies out of the soda bread and our menu was filled with a variety of delicious Irish dishes.๐Ÿ˜‹

The Investigators had a visit from a leprechaun who left their environment in such a mess, ๐Ÿคญafter finding him hiding in the pot plant, they made him a little home of his own. โ˜บ๏ธ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ€

We wish all our Irish Families a Happy St. Patrickโ€™s Day. ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช

Experiencing belonging โ€“ knowing where and with whom you belong โ€“ is integral to human existence. โ˜€๏ธ

Educators recognise that families are children's first and most influential teachers. We therefore consider families the roots of our service.๐ŸŒณ

At A Place to Grow Academy, we create a welcoming environment where all children and families are respected and encouraged to collaborate with educators to achieve the best learning outcomes for their children. ๐ŸŒปโค๏ธ

The Explorer Roomโ€™s Identity and Belonging Tree is constantly evolving and a work-in-progress. The children have helped to design it. Together with educator Martina they created this wonderful tree using various materials for a special sensory experience. ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿผโ€๐ŸŽจ

It has been so much joy for the children to place the photos of their extended family on the tree. Being able to come back to it and engage in conversations about their family helps children to feel a sense of safety and belonging in their home away from home. ๐Ÿก

Our preschoolers celebrated Lunar New Year last week. ๐Ÿ…โœจ

The Investigators learned to respect the diversity of different cultures through various explorations and engagements, such as craft activities and card making for their families, wearing traditional Chinese costumes and group discussions. ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‘˜

The children with Chinese background shared how they celebrate by gift giving for โ€žGood Luckโ€œ and their peers even learned a few words in Mandarin. ๐Ÿฅ

Children are connected with and contribute to their world, they respond to diversity with respect.
