Excited to share that Snowflake, the Interactive Genetic Algorithms (IGA) plugin I developed jointly with Heba Eiz as part of my PhD, is now available online! 🎉
🔗 Download it here: https://www.food4rhino.com/en/app/snowflake-iga
Built on the SPEA2 framework and coded in C #, Snowflake seamlessly integrates with Grasshopper, enabling interactive and dynamic design exploration. It allows users to guide the evolutionary optimization process by incorporating both objective performance metrics and subjective design preferences.
Three Distinct Modes:
Objective Mode – Optimizes based on quantitative performance criteria.
Subjective Mode – Allows designers to embed personal aesthetic/formal preferences.
Combined Mode – Merges both into a unified fitness evaluation.
Examples and tutorials will be uploaded soon—stay tuned!
Looking forward to seeing how the design community explores and experiments with it. Have fun with Snowflake! ❄️

Baghdad Gymnasium: one of Le Corbusier’s lesser-known works, both in Iraq and globally. It’s part of Baghdad’s Sports Complex, which also features a stadium, tennis courts, and swimming pools. Designed in 1958 and completed in 1980, the gymnasium showcases his distinctive architectural style in its form and walls.

On this day in 2017, we hosted the first D-NAT workshop in Baghdad! It was a memorable experience that introduced parametric design techniques to the local universities.

Concrete 3D Printing competition in Australia
📢 LUYTEN and the University of New South Wales proudly launch "Everlasting Elegance," a global architecture competition seeking timeless, sustainable home designs for 3D printing in an Australian vineyard. 🍇🏡
The competition officially runs from the 1st of August 2024 and concludes on 31 March 2025. Entry is free and open to architectural houses, practicing architects, designers and students. The panel will select the winning design and the designer will be provided with the opportunity to utilise their design in the featured project. Commendations will also be provided for superior design concepts. The overall project is valued at AUD $1.5 million (USD $1 mill equivalent) including the site, build and prize offerings.
The winning design will be used to print a 3D country courtyard house in Pomona NSW, Australia. Situated in a rural area close to the Murray River in an area known for its vineyards, the to-be-designed house will be used as an estate for country living.
Showcase your talent and inspire the world with the affordability, beauty, resilience, and litheness of 3D printing! 🌎✨
