Happy Holi 🌈

This week at Evolve we welcomed our baby chicks, the children were so excited to see the process of the chicks hatching and waited with anticipation to meet and hold them 🐣

Healthy Harold Visit 💫

Today the Preschoolers had their highly anticipated visit from Healthy Harold to learn about body boundaries.

In this session the children learned that every person has a right to personal space, and that it’s okay to say “yes” or “no” to touch and identify safe adults they can go to for help.

With interactive games and gentle storytelling, this session builds confidence, protective behaviours and personal safety awareness in a respectful and age-appropriate way.

3 Day Guarantee: changes to subsidised child care hours from 5 January 2026 📣

- Families can get at least 72 hours of subsidised care each fortnight. ✅

- You may get up to 100 hours if you have more than 48 hours of recognised participation per fortnight or have a valid exemption. ✅

- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children can get 100 hours. ✅

Families must still pay a gap fee, except in certain circumstances.

Harvesting our lettuce 🥬
Today the Preschoolers discovered that our lettuce we have been growing and looking after over the past few weeks was ready to be harvested. The children enjoyed helping Miss Emily pick the leaves off, give the sad leaves to the chickens and wash the leaves we kept. This really encouraged the children’s sustainability skills, respect for the environment and healthy lifestyles through discussing ways we could combine the lettuce into a meal.

Learning about Diwali 🪔

This week our children have been learning all about Diwali and why it’s celebrated, the children spoke about the different flowers, lights, fireworks, and the different ways it’s celebrated.

The children have also been exploring rangoli patterns and the lighting of diyas, and discovering the importance of family, feasts, fireworks, and sweets.

This has promoted the children’s respect for diversity and investigative skills while also encouraging creativity and active participation.
