The Centre brings transdisciplinary researchers into conversation with each other to answer the critical question: what can we learn from the past?
CACHE is a university centre for collaborative research into the cultural heritage and environmental knowledge of past peoples, including Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. We are delighted to announce our 2022 CACHE Postdoctoral Fellowship has been awarded to Dr Melanie Pitkin, Senior Curator of the Nicholson Collection of the Chau Chak Wing Museum, University of Sydney. Melanie's project will be sponsored by CACHE Executive Member Professor Damian Gore (School of Natural Sciences, Faculty of Science and Engineering, Macquarie University). Dr Pitkin’s CACHE Fellowship project, titled Egyptian stelae in the Chau Chak Wing Museum: an interdisciplinary examination of their materiality, production and decoration, will provide new insights into the way we understand, and think of, ancient Egyptian stelae.
