During Reconciliation Week, we embraced this year's theme, "All In" by coming together to reflect on how we can create a more inclusive and culturally responsive environment for all.
Throughout the week, the Kindys and Miss Tae participated in meaningful learning experiences and yarning sessions, sharing ideas about what being "All In" means to them. By listening to children's voices and involving them in the planning process, we worked together to develop a plan that promotes respect, inclusion, and a deeper understanding not only Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures but all Cultures
This experience reminded us that reconciliation is not just something we acknowledge for one week of the year, it is an ongoing commitment. Together, we are striving to be consistent in our actions, ensuring that cultural learning, inclusion, and respect remain embedded in our everyday practices throughout the year.
This version keeps the focus on children's participation, yarning, inclusion, and the importance of maintaining the commitment beyond Reconciliation Week.
We also welcome parent input, inviting families to share ideas on how we can meaningfully include and celebrate their children’s cultures, please leave a comment, message or come in for chat with us to share your ideas, all is welcome.

Today in our Kindy room, the children engaged in a variety of experiences focused on letter and name recognition. The children explored identifying the letters in their own names by searching for and matching magnetic letters. They then worked carefully to build their names using the magnets before using markers to attempt writing their names independently.
These experiences support the development of early literacy skills, fine motor control, hand-eye coordination, and confidence. Recognising and writing their own name helps children develop a sense of identity and belonging while also building important foundations for future reading and writing.
In preschool, learning through play is essential. Children develop best when they are engaged in hands-on, meaningful experiences that encourage curiosity, communication, problem-solving, social skills, and independence. Before transitioning to big school, the most important foundations include developing confidence, emotional regulation, communication skills, social interactions, independence in daily routines, and a positive attitude towards learning. Early literacy and numeracy experiences are important, but fostering happy, confident, and capable learners is the key focus in the early years.
Today, some of our Kindy friends along with Miss Haylee and Miss Jess enjoyed a wonderful excursion to Miss Jean and Mr Steve’s property to collect fresh organic chicken eggs. When we arrived, Miss Tae was there also to help guide us through the experience and support the children as they explored the property.
The children excitedly tiptoed around the puddles, using their imaginations to pretend there were crocodiles hiding in the water. Their laughter and creativity brought so much joy to the adventure. As we walked through the gardens, the children stopped to admire the delicious strawberries growing fresh from the garden beds, learning about where healthy food comes from and how it is grown.
The children then helped feed the chickens before carefully collecting the eggs. Experiences like this are so important as they help children develop an understanding of sustainability, caring for animals, and where our food comes from. By sourcing eggs locally and organically, children begin to build awareness of environmentally friendly practices and the importance of making sustainable choices within our community.
After all their hard work, the children sat together to enjoy some yummy biscuits and juice while reflecting on their exciting morning. Excursions into the community provide valuable opportunities for children to connect with the world around them, strengthen relationships, and engage in meaningful hands-on learning experiences outside of the classroom. It was a beautiful day filled with exploration, imagination, and learning.
