🌱 LISTEN TO YOUR GUT 🌸
As a female fitness coach and nutritionist, I know firsthand the impact intolerances can have on your health and wellbeing.
Intolerances are your body's way of telling you that something isn't right - a red flag that your gut is unhappy and needs attention. Luckily, most intolerances are completely reversible with the right approach.
Allergies and intolerances are not the same. Allergies are usually present from birth and can be life-threatening, while intolerances can occur at any point in life and only affect the digestive system.
If you struggle with food intolerances, know that avoiding the problem food is only a temporary solution. The real issue lies in healing your gut. By addressing the root cause of your intolerances, you can drastically improve - or even completely recover from - your symptoms.

Let’s talk gym anxiety 🫣 something many of us have experienced at some point in our fitness journeys!
Whether you’re new to the gym or a seasoned gym rat, those nerves can creep up on you, making it difficult to feel confident & focused on your workout.
The good news is that these feelings are completely normal, and with time & practice, they will start to fade.
If you’re struggling with gym anxiety, here are some tips that may help you:
🏋️ Start with the basics: begin with simple exercises that you feel comfortable with & gradually build up to more challenging workouts
🏋️ Go in with a plan: come to the gym knowing what you are going to do so you don’t add a layer of stress by thinking about what to do next
🏋️ Wear clothes you feel comfortable in: wear clothes that make you feel confident, whether that’s a matching set or a baggy t-shirt
🏋️ Choose the right time: if you're feeling intimidated by a crowded gym, try going during off-peak hours when it's quieter if your schedule allows
🏋️ Focus on yourself: remember that everyone is there to work on & better themselves… people are more worried about what they are doing than what you are doing
🏋️ Recite affirmations: Positive self-talk can make a big difference in how you feel — some of my favorite mantras are “I am strong enough to overcome any challenege” & "I can do hard things”
🏋️ Don’t be afraid to ask for help: if you're unsure about how to use a piece of equipment or need some guidance, don't hesitate to ask a trainer or gym member for help
Remember, the gym should be a positive & empowering environment where you can focus on your health & wellbeing goals.

Did you know that the efficacy of your supplements can be optimized or diminished based on how you pair them with certain foods?
An excellent example of this is the combination of probiotic supplements with specific vegetables.
Why, you ask?
Fermented vegetables act as nourishment and fuel for bacteria. By adding a probiotic supplement to this natural process, the vegetables become carriers that enhance the absorption of probiotic bacteria, providing them with the necessary fuel ⛽️ for maximum effectiveness.
Similarly, it's important to be mindful of the impact of tannins and oxalates on iron absorption. Substances like tea, coffee, rhubarb, leafy greens, legumes, and chocolate, containing tannins and oxalates, can decrease the absorption of iron. If you're iron deficient and taking iron supplements, it is advisable to avoid consuming foods rich in oxalates and tannins around the time of supplementation to ensure optimal absorption.

Attention fitness enthusiasts! Are you constantly pushing yourself to the point of exhaustion and collapsing on the floor after every workout? Believe it or not, that's not the ultimate goal, even though many of us have been conditioned to believe it is. While it can feel good to be drenched in sweat after a tough session, it doesn't have to be the primary objective every time you enter the gym.
In fact, pursuing fatigue can lead to injury, inadequate rest, and an unhealthy fixation on calorie burn. None of these behaviors contribute to improved performance or fitness goals. Instead, I encourage you to prioritize performance and take a different approach.
So what does chasing performance entail? Start by working with an appropriate RPE (rate of perceived exertion) on all sets. Take rest breaks between sets that last 1-5 minutes (depending on the strength quality you are focusing on), prioritize proper form before increasing weight, follow a structured training program that aligns with your goals, and allow yourself rest days away from the gym.
If you're solely focused on the goal of exhaustion, it's time to consider a new perspective. Injuries and poor recovery can set you back much further than you'd like. Now is the time to prioritize performance, and I'm here to help. Do you feel like excessive body control is impacting your quality of life? It's a common trap that many people fall into, especially within the fitness industry. What may have started as a healthy endeavor can quickly transform into a cover-up for underlying mental health issues and body dysmorphia.
If you find yourself constantly preoccupied with how your body looks or how a social event could undo "all your hard work", this post is for you. Health & fitness encompasses mental, physical, and social well-being and is so much more the absence of disease or infirmity. Even those with the "fittest" looking bodies can be riddled with anxiety and self-loathing.
When I began practicing self-compassion, I found it easier to handle difficult body image days and started treating my body with the care it deserved. This shift allowed my brain and body to receive the energy they needed. So I ask you, what could happen if you stopped fixating on weight and size? Could we potentially reach a point where we feel content with our bodies? Or even better, could our bodies become less central to our self-worth, freeing up mental space for relationships, career, and passions? Maybe it's time to find out.

Having a strong immune system is critical to maintaining good overall health. It protects you from harmful bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens that can make you sick. Here are three effective ways to boost your immunity naturally:
1️⃣ Foods to boost immunity: are typically rich in Zinc (Oysters, Lamb, Brazil Nuts, Sardines, Egg Yolks) & Vitamin C (Fresh Organic Parsley & Coriander, Capsicum, Kiwi, Tomato, White Potato, Raspberries, Grapefruit, Orange, Pineapple).
2️⃣Dr D: Make sure to bare your naked skin (no sunscreen) to the sun for adequate Vitamin D (5-15mins per day depending on skin type)
3️⃣Sleep: The quality and quantity of your sleep are directly associated with your immunity. Lack of sleep can weaken your immune system, making you more vulnerable to infections. Aim for 7 - 9 hours of sleep each day to enhance your immune response.
4️⃣Stress Management: High levels of stress can have a negative impact on your immune system. Do activities like yoga, meditation, and deep breathing exercises to help relieve stress. Engage in activities that make you happy and relaxed.
