🩵🌈 CHILD PROTECTION WEEK 2026 | EVERY CHILD, SAFE & SUPPORTED 🌈🩵

This week at Explorers Learning Academy Bardia, we are proudly recognising Child Protection Week and reinforcing a message that sits at the heart of everything we do keeping children safe is everyone’s responsibility.

Throughout the week, our children are participating in age-appropriate experiences from our Child Protection Week Program, supporting them to learn about body safety, emotions, trusted adults, consent, personal boundaries, help-seeking and their right to feel safe, heard and respected.

⭐ Our Child Safety Commitment Stars ⭐
We are also inviting our children, families, educators, visitors and wider community to make their own commitment to child safety. Each commitment star will be added to our Child Safety Rainbow, creating a visual representation of the many people who stand together to protect, listen to and advocate for children.

Our commitment goes far beyond one special week. Child safety is embedded within our everyday practices, policies, curriculum, staff training, risk management, Child Safe Code of Conduct and ongoing reflection.

At Explorers, we are committed to creating an environment where:

🌟 Children are supported to understand their rights
🌟 Safe relationships, boundaries and consent are taught from the earliest years
🌟 Families and communities are active partners in keeping children safe

💙 Celebrating Our Wonderful Dads & Father Figures! 💙

What a beautiful afternoon we had yesterday celebrating Father’s Day at Explorers Learning Academy Bardia!

It was wonderful to welcome our dads, grandads, uncles and special father figures into our centre for an afternoon of connection, laughter and making memories together. From our sausage sizzle and soccer fun to building cubby houses and getting creative in the mud kitchen, there were plenty of special moments to enjoy.

For our children, having the important people in their lives join them in their learning environment creates such a wonderful sense of belonging, pride and connection. They were so excited to share their space, introduce their friends and educators, and enjoy some special one-on-one time together.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the afternoon so special. We hope all of our dads, grandads, uncles and special people have a wonderful Father’s Day this Sunday!

This week we’re sharing two simple pasta ideas from our delicous menu for our Explorers families to try at home!

🍛 Healthy, Hearty & Loved by Our Explorers! 🍛

Another delicious favourite on our Explorers menu is our Chicken & Vegetable Curry, alongside our tasty Vegetarian Curry option!

Packed with colourful vegetables and nourishing ingredients, these meals provide children with opportunities to experience different flavours, textures and nutritious foods while enjoying mealtimes together.

We know how much our little Explorers enjoy their curry, so we’ve attached a simple family-friendly recipe idea for you to try at home! Why not get your little chef involved with washing the vegetables, helping to stir or choosing which veggies to add?

By sharing some of our favourite centre meals, we hope to strengthen the connection between healthy eating at Explorers and healthy habits at home.

🐾🐶 Living Safely with Dogs NSW Visits Explorers Bardia! 🐶🐾

Today our preschool children had a very special visit from the Living Safely with Dogs NSW Program as part of our ongoing School Readiness and Child Safety learning.

Through an engaging and interactive session, the children learnt important skills for staying safe around dogs, including:

🐕 How to safely approach and interact with a dog
✋ When we should not touch or approach a dog
👀 How to recognise some of the signals dogs use to communicate
🧍 What to do if an unfamiliar dog approaches us
🙋 Why we should always ask the owner before patting a dog
🐾 How to behave calmly and respectfully around animals

The children loved putting their new knowledge into practice and had lots of opportunities to participate, answer questions and demonstrate safe behaviours.

Experiences like today’s incursion help our children develop confidence, awareness, responsibility and practical safety skills that they can use within our wider community.

A huge thank you to Living Safely with Dogs NSW for visiting Explorers Learning Academy Bardia and providing such a valuable learning experience for our children!

👩‍🍳✨ Cooking with Miss Cristina in the Emus Room! ✨👩‍🍳

Our Emus had a wonderful time getting busy in the kitchen today as Miss Cristina led a fun, hands-on cooking class making fresh scones!

The children helped measure, pour, mix and prepare the dough, building early numeracy skills, following instructions, strengthening fine motor skills and developing confidence and independence along the way.

Of course, the best part was knowing our freshly baked scones would be shared together for late snack!

Cooking experiences provide such meaningful opportunities for children to learn about healthy food, ingredients, teamwork and where our food comes from, while creating some very special memories together.
