30 years ago today the Australian High Court ruled that Australia was NOT terra nullius. The Court finally declared the truth - that Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander people had a unique and strong connection to the land - a connection existing thousands of years before any British colonisers arrived. Today is Mabo Day, marking a close to Reconciliation Week. Today we remember Mabo and his success in challenging the government to speak the truth about Australian land.

There’s still time to make a pledge on .au by commenting on their post. For example, you might pledge to learn more about the Mabo case.

Head over to .au and comment what you’ll be doing to contribute to reconciliation. For example you may pledge to learn more about who’s country you’re on, or visit reconciliation.org.au and explore the history of reconciliation week.
There are so many ways to participate. We can’t wait to see all of your pledges on .au
