🏡 One roof can mean a more connected plan.

At Step by Step Learning, having speech therapy and tutoring under one roof creates opportunities for shared strategies and consistent support 💙💚

With your family’s consent, our speech pathologists and tutors can work together to carry helpful strategies across sessions, supporting your child’s communication, learning and confidence.

Every child’s pathway looks different. Some begin with tutoring, while others continue with tutoring after finishing speech therapy, receiving ongoing support with schoolwork and opportunities to apply the skills they’ve developed.
Connected support, shaped around your child 🌱

The kids run the casting department. We just turn up ready to play... and sneak in plenty of communication practise along the way! 💬💙

I’m a speech pathologist and a mum to two busy boys, and I definitely don’t get it right all of the time 😅

Being a mum has changed me as a therapist. It’s made me more empathetic and reminded me that even helpful advice needs to be realistic. Some days, it just isn’t achievable.

I know the strategies, but using them while making dinner, getting everyone out the door or running on very little sleep? It’s not always that simple. I still rush answers, give too many instructions, use screens and have moments I wish I’d handled differently.
..and yes, the parent guilt creeps in too. We see everyone else’s highlight reel, rarely their rushed mornings or the big feelings. No one gets it right all of the time, even the “professionals”. We’re all trying our best with what we have that day 💛

What matters is connection and coming back after difficult moments. Rather than focusing on what you haven’t implemented this week, focus on what you are already doing. Practise can happen while getting dressed, having a snack or playing together. It doesn’t always need to be another task.

The lived experience that comes from parenting our own children has shaped our whole approach at SBSL. Our entire team is passionate about working WITH families. It’s our job to understand your routines, your family dynamic and what feels manageable.

Sessions are a chance to practise together, ask questions and talk honestly about what’s working and what isn’t. Your experience matters just as much as our advice.

Something parents may not realise is how often they inspire us. We see the patience when your child needs more time, the encouragement when something is difficult and the effort you make to try a new strategy in an already busy schedule.

Working together should leave you feeling more confident, not carrying another overwhelming to do list. You’re never expected to do every single thing we suggest. Do what feels manageable, when it’s manageable. It’s about small changes consistently, not being perfect all of the time 💛

💙 Different perspectives. Shared goals.

This Allied Health Professions Day, we’re celebrating the power of collaboration.

At Step by Step Learning, we work together with families, educators and other allied health professionals to support each child’s communication, learning and development. We believe collaboration is at the heart of the best outcomes. Each professional brings a different perspective, helping us understand the whole child and what matters to them and their family.

From the clinic to homes, schools, early childhood settings and online, everyone brings valuable knowledge and skills. Sharing ideas and working towards meaningful goals helps children carry their progress into everyday life.

To our allied health colleagues: thank you for the expertise, care and collaboration you bring to children and families. The best outcomes happen when we work together 💙

Helping your child’s language grow can start with small changes 💬

Talk about what they’re doing, add a word to what they say, and give them time to respond.

You don’t need to turn every moment into a lesson—just talk, play and connect. Small changes, practised consistently, can make a difference 🤍

Save this post to try these ideas during your everyday moments!

Sometimes finding your child’s favourite activity takes a few attempts, and a whole cupboard of toys!

We take the time to discover what sparks their interest, because connection and engagement help create opportunities for communication 💬

Whether it’s LEGO, bubbles, cars or the same game every week, we’re here for it! 💛

When you’ve worked hard to find the right support for your child, hearing about a new program can bring a lot of questions 💛

What will it look like? Is it available near us? Where do we start?

It’s understandable to want clear answers.

Thriving Kids began a gradual rollout on 1 October 2026, with services continuing to develop over time. In NSW, more details about local services and how to access them will be shared as they become available.

At Step by Step Learning, we’re keeping informed while continuing to provide the support our families rely on.

We’ll listen to your concerns, share confirmed information and help you explore the options relevant to your child. You don’t need to have every detail figured out before talking with us.
