Congratulations to Hugo Ceran-Jerusalemy who has won the inaugural Juvenis Corde Prize for choral composition, with his work The Turtle and the Moon.

Written for SATB voices on a theme of nature, the work stood out for its imaginative response to the brief, drawing on inspiration from David Attenborough’s Planet Earth. Using compact rhythmic and melodic ideas, the composer creates a fluid, evolving texture and a clear, satisfying musical arc. The panel commended the work’s originality, strong structural sense, and effective vocal writing.

The Turtle and the Moon will be performed by Corde in October 2026, details to come.
