If you were to step into my classroom on a Monday morning, here’s exactly what you’d see 👇
 
9:00am - students sorting
9:02am - students practising
9:05am - students sprinting 
9:08am - students tracking
By 9:10am, they’re done, and it’s straight on to the rest of the maths lesson.

All you need is 10 minutes, 5 times a week, and you’ll build the multiplication fluency that every other maths topic depends on.

here are my top recommendations for running a smooth multiplication fluency routine - one that is so well organised it can (almost) run itself 💛

1. grab a folder that can store all your materials in one place, I use the J Burrows A4 expanding folder with 19 pockets ($15 from Officeworks) and added in my own custom-made labels

2. print all times table flash cards on different colours, e.g. purple for 2s, blue for 3s etc. This allows you to see where all your kids are at, with just a quick glance around the room

3. store all flashcards in small ziplock bags, I got this pack of 60 for $4.50

4. explicitly train your kids on how to pick up and pack up all of these materials!!

if you have kids rolling their eyes every time you start your maths lesson, it’s worth spending the first 5-10 minutes doing an activity they can experience genuine success with

then you add in an interactive spinner (which these kids can start and stop) and you have SO much buy in for the rest of the lesson.
