Every ECEC student knows the feeling 😂
You think you’ve finished… then your trainer says:
“Can you add a more reflective practice?”
Often the biggest growth happens when we move beyond describing what happened and begin thinking about:
• Why it mattered
• What the child was learning
• What we could extend next time
Reflective practice can feel tricky at first, but it’s one of the most important skills in Early Childhood 🌱

🌟 Student of the Month – Fatema 🌟
This month we’re proud to celebrate Fatema, who is currently studying her Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care with ACEC 💛
Over the past year, Fatema has shown wonderful growth in both confidence and practice. Through her learning journey, she has developed stronger skills in planning meaningful learning experiences, observing children’s development, and supporting children through positive interactions and communication.
Her trainer Petrisha shared:
“Fatema is a dedicated and motivated student currently studying Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. She consistently demonstrates a strong work ethic, excellent organisational skills, and a positive attitude towards her learning. Her consistent effort and willingness to learn have resulted in excellent progress throughout her course, and she shows great potential for a successful career in early childhood education and care.” ✨
Fatema shared that one of the biggest benefits of her studies has been being able to connect what she is learning directly into her everyday work with children. She has grown in confidence in understanding children’s needs, supporting their wellbeing, and applying learning frameworks and child development knowledge into practice.
Her advice to other students:
“Stay focused, organised and confident in your abilities. Ask questions, seek support and apply what you learn into your daily practice.” ✨
Congratulations, Fatema 🌿

Creating meaningful connections with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives goes beyond occasional experiences, it becomes part of the everyday rhythm and culture of the service 🌿
Morning rituals, songs, movement and shared experiences can help children develop a sense of belonging, connection and respect for culture and community.
Under the updated EYLF and in line with ACECQA’s focus on embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives authentically, educators play an important role in creating environments where culture is visible, valued and meaningfully included within daily practice.
Experiences like this also support children to build understanding through relationships, participation and shared community experiences.

Food and mealtimes in Early Childhood are about so much more than eating 🍎
Conversations around nutrition can support children to build independence, learn healthy habits and develop positive relationships with food.
From discussing where food comes from, to involving children in cooking experiences, gardening or mealtime routines — everyday moments can become meaningful learning opportunities.
Today’s word guess was:
NUTRITION 🌱
Did you get it right? 👀

Art experiences become even more meaningful when they connect to children’s voices, interests and relationships 🎨🌈
This was a great experience to observe. Well done Matilda, we love the final product!
Children explored creating artworks about their favourite things and favourite people.
Through conversations, Matilda encouraged children to share their ideas, discuss colours and talk about the important people in their lives.
“I’m painting my daddy.”
“I’m doing dad pink because that’s my favourite colour.”
As children painted, they negotiated materials, shared ideas and continued conversations with one another and their educator.
Simple experiences like this can support communication, identity, creativity and relationship building — especially when educators take time to listen, question and extend children’s thinking through meaningful conversations.

Behind the scenes at ACEC today 🌱
Today our team came together for an online meeting focused on continuous improvement and reflecting on how we can continue strengthening the student experience.
We spoke about:
✔ Refining student support processes
✔ Humanability updates
✔ Looking at new ways to enhance communication and engagement
✔ Reviewing what is working well and where we can continue to grow
✔ Continuing to build on the support and systems already in place for our students
While we are proud of the support we already provide, we know that quality education means continuing to reflect, adapt and improve.
Because learning doesn't stop with students — as an RTO, we are committed to continuing to learn too 💛

🌟 Student of the Month – Holly 🌟
This month we’re proud to celebrate Holly, who is currently studying her Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care with ACEC 💛
Since beginning her journey in early childhood last year, Holly has shown wonderful growth in confidence and practice. Through her studies, she has developed stronger communication skills and a deeper understanding of how to positively support children’s learning, behaviour and daily routines.
Her trainer Jasmine shared: “Holly has continually shown initiative and passion, always demonstrating an eagerness to learn and progress through her studies. Holly actively seeks feedback on both her theory and practical work and shows a genuine commitment to growth and improvement.”
Holly shared: ACEC has helped her build confidence in understanding children’s individual needs and creating a safe, caring and positive environment in the room. She also enjoys the flexibility of online learning, allowing her to balance study around work and family life.
When Holly initially felt unsure about parts of her assessments, she reached out to her trainer for support, which helped her gain confidence and continue moving forward in her studies.
Her advice to other students:
“Stay organised, ask for help when you need it, and take it one step at a time.” ✨
We’re so proud of the progress you’ve made, Holly, and look forward to seeing you continue to grow as an educator 🌿

Show us your playdough setup 🌿
Playdough is one of those timeless resources that continues to support so many areas of children’s learning and development.
Through playdough experiences, children can:
• strengthen fine motor skills and hand muscles
• build creativity and imagination
• explore sensory play
• develop language and social skills through shared conversations
• experiment with problem solving, patterns and early maths concepts
Simple additions like herbs, loose parts, natural materials, rollers or kitchen tools can completely change the experience and invite deeper engagement.
One of the most popular playdough recipes educators use is:
🧂 2 cups plain flour
🧂 1 cup salt
🧂 2 tbsp cream of tartar
🧂 2 tbsp oil
🧂 2 cups water
🧂 food colouring
Cook over medium heat until combined and dough forms. Nothing better than warm playdough in the colder months.
Now we want to see YOUR setup 👀
What invitations or resources do you add to extend playdough play?
