Today we farewell Liz Maddock after 37 and a half years of service at Jacaranda Preschool. We would all like to thank Liz for the dedication and love she has shown the staff, children and families throughout her time at Jacaranda Preschool. Liz will be sorely missed next year and for many years ahead. I think we can all agree Liz more than deserves a relaxing retirement where she can continue to travel and spend time with her loved ones...
Below is a little message from Liz -

‘As today marks my final day at Jacaranda after 37 years, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the children, families, and staff who have had such a profound impact on my life and my career in childcare. It has truly been a privilege to get to know so many of you over the years and to form lifelong relationships along the way.

Public speaking has never been one of my strengths, and at last week’s concert I had a small speech prepared that I found myself too emotional to share. I would like to take this moment to say those words now.

When I first began at Jacaranda 37 years ago, I had two young children of my own — a three-year-old daughter and a six-month-old son. At this year’s concert, that same son, now 38 years old, sat in the audience while I watched my granddaughter, his daughter, sing in the Christmas concert. In that moment, I truly felt that my time at Jacaranda had come full circle.

Now it feels like the right time to retire and embrace new beginnings and adventures. It has been an absolute pleasure being part of this community, and Jacaranda Preschool will always hold a very special place in my heart.

Description:
This mural celebrates the spirit of teamwork, curiosity, and connection embodied by the dolphin, a symbol of bridging land and sea. The dolphin’s dynamic energy reflects the harmony of children and teachers working together in unity, learning, and growing as a team.

The kangaroo tracks pay homage to Caringbah, meaning “small wallabies,” symbolising the children’s shared learning journey. The red dots represent the fruit of the native Lily Pilly, found throughout the area.

Encircling the dolphin, a vine-like pattern visualises the spirit of the dolphin and the sea, moving in harmony, weaving land, water, and community into one cohesive story.

This painting is a testament to the beauty of connection and the joy of working together toward shared growth and understanding.
