‘I Can Hear the Desert Calling’ 2025 , acrylic pigments on canvas, 125cm x 61cm, on show and for sale for $3,850 via QR code or mosmanartwalk.com

It’s easy to imagine the wonder of this magnificent artwork in controlled light in pride of place on an expansive living room wall.

“The desert calls to me - ochre sands and limitless skies. So I let wings unfurl and spread as I listen for that place with no words,” says the artist Tara Winona of this work.

“The colours of this owl are inspired by a visit to Kata Tjuṯa (formerly known as The Olgas, Northern Territory), sitting in the sands matching pigments to luminous light.”

Tara’s art is an invitation to connect. Celebrating a love affair with nature, she seeks beauty in simplicity, leaving space for the imagination. Tara is represented by galleries in the UK and has exhibited across Australia, UK and the Netherlands.

Classic case of great curation by Mosman Art Walk in collaboration with Mud Australia and its flagship Mosman store at 4/732 Military Road, Mosman 2088.

Mirra Whale ‘The Observer’ 2022, oil on linen, 94cm x 115cm, framed, on show and for sale for $7,800 Mosman store when Mosman Art Walk 2026, 19 February - 10 March, 2026.

Working with the artworks shortlisted by Fiona Ackerman, Artistic Director, Mosman Art Walk 2026, the curation and in-store liaison team of Ann King and Erica Beaton work with store managers to place and curate as many of the artworks shortlisted as possible.

One of many interesting aspects of Mosman Art Walk is the creative relationship building between Mosman Art Walk and store supporters. Choosing and placing the most suitable artwork for stores is exacting and exciting!

Optimising sales and marketing opportunities for artists, Mosman Art Walk and the stores is a challenging. There’s a lot at stake. The reputations of the stores, Mosman Art Walk and the artists must coalesce to impress and satisfy art lovers and buyers.

Timothy Johnston's art, TJ Studio House Gallery and environmental advocacy, are very much in sync with Mosman.

Timothy's work 'Jewel - Balmoral Island' 2025, acrylic, ink and oils on linen, is 160cm wide and 130cm high.

"My muse and constant source of inspiration is Edwards Beach Balmoral and its surrounding bays," Timothy says.

"Balmoral Island is like the jewel in the centre of this magnificent beach and has been the inspiration of many Australian painters throughout the years."

"This work ('Jewel - Balmoral Island') is part of my recent collection ‘Balmoral Beauty’ showcased at Bathers Pavilion."

"The colour palette was based from my early inspiration of Monet’s colour palette when painting his garden. Translating this into local Australian seascape was a delight for me."

'Jewel - Balmoral Island' will be on show and for sale $13,800 when the Mosman Art Walk 2026 opens (19 February - 10 March).

'The Observer' 2022 by Mirra Whale, oil on linen, 94cm x 115cm, framed. ‘The Observer' will be on show and for sale $7,800 Mosman store, when Mosman Art Walk 2026 opens (19 February - 10 March).

Mirra Whale is a Sydney based artist. Her art explores the formal and conceptual limits of the still life genre.

Mirra enlivens everyday household objects with emotive compositions and visually arresting contexts. In 2024 Mirra won the Redland Art Prize, Queensland.

She has also won the Eutick Memorial Still Life Award (EMSLA) and the Royal Art Society North Sydney Drawing Prize.

Mirra is a five-time Archibald Prize finalist. Her work has been selected in: the Salon des Refusés; Portia Geach Portrait Prize; Mosman Art Prize; Hornsby Art Prize; the Dobell Drawing Prize; National Still Life Award; and the Kedumba Drawing Prize.

Mirra currently lectures at the National Art School. Her observations on 'The Observer' 2024 are revealing:

"A grouping of nondescript forms can become anything we want them to.

"We identify and can feel sorry for the jar standing alone or romanticise two forms as a dance or intimate conversation.

"The looming shadows in the background hint of architectural forms and suburban settings again rustling up the familiar of the human domestic world that we are surrounded by.

"Gently stripped back to muted tones and quiet compositions, I have played with shadow and light to celebrate unsophisticated subject matter and undisturbed simplicity of the common place, finding beauty in the nuances of the familiar."

Mirra Whale is an alumnus of Mosman High School. 'The Observer' is sure to be welcomed into pride of place in a Mosman home.

Artist Zeina Kara Ali - ‘The Date' ‘24, acrylic on canvas, 100cm x 76cm, will be shown and for sale $650 when Mosman Art Walk opens (16 February - 10 March).

'The Date' evokes the romance of travel. Its display in the shop window of Mosman Travel will amplify these sensations.

Zeina Kara-Ali is Sydney-based. She works primarily in acrylic, using light, line and texture, suffused with her childhood memories of Lebanon and years in Ghana.

Zeina studied at Sydney Art School. She combines teaching with her art practice.

Zeina held her first solo exhibition 'Arches Memory' 2024. Her work has been shortlisted for the Hunters Hill Art Exhibition and the Fisher’s Ghost Art Award.

Zeina shared this about 'The Date'; "Set in a nostalgic seaside café, this painting tells the story of two lovers reuniting after a long time apart.”

"The red-checkered tablecloth holds traces of their presence - two cups of coffee still warm, single rose, hair bow, pack of ci******es, and car keys.”

"Each item is a silent witness to the emotions shared: anticipation, tenderness, and memories rekindled.”

"Through this piece, I celebrate the intimate language of objects and the timeless beauty of places that hold our stories."
