Today we extended on our gardening experience, by potting succulents in the pots we hydro dipped earlier this term. We attained permission from the principal to place the pots within the school garden, and I'm sure you will agree they look fabulous.

Exploring the outdoor environment can be a fun and I interesting way of learning about our surroundings. Children who learn in an outdoor environment will build a closer connection and appreciation of the nature around them. Through our exploration we learnt that Roan has a favourite tree he likes to sit in as it makes him feel safe. Jaydens favourite tree looks like broccoli and Evie loves the group of trees that everyone refers to as the forest.

"Look Michelle, I found a skipping rope !" After finding a skipping rope during our afternoon outdoors, Myah started a spontaneous skipping game with her peers. Skipping is a rythmical locomotive skill that is basic to many childrens games. It is also fundermental to good footwork in numerous sports, such as basketball, netball and touch, along with many forms of dance.

Last week the children prepared the first step of our rubber egg experiment, by placing a raw egg in a cup of vinegar. Today some of us checked to see how the experiment was working. When viewing our eggs, we found that the eggs shell had dissolved, and had a rubbery consistency somewhat like a boiled egg. When squeezing his egg, Roan found that the yolk inside was still soft. The children really enjoyed their engagement in this activity, and their faces show how strange they thought the eggs felt.
Science week...

Last week the children had the opportunity to participate in fun experiments for science week. This year's theme was Food: Different by design. We thought it would be a challenge for the children to turn solids to liquids or liquids to solids. We did this through cooking experiences along with science experiments. The highlight of the week was definitely our Drop Egg Challenge. The concept of this challenge was to create a structural design that would protect an uncooked egg being dropped from a height onto a hard surface. We also had fun turning eggs to rubber by dissolving their shells.
