Yes! We were on time for the aurora show on the 20th - 21st. I had asked my kids if they wanted to come aurora chasing with me and they excitedly responded. My 7 year old son made jokes at the expense of his sister, whose name is Aurora: (if we miss out on seeing it) "We'll still be able to see the Aurora right here". 🤭
We were not disappointed. They laid down beside me watching the stars whilst I was taking shots, and at one point for a couple of seconds (after I'd already packed up) we saw it dance with the naked eye; and with several others who were there we let out a "woooahh".
I think that while the clouds weren't so much of an issue, it was the light pollution around the Illawarra area that hurt the photos, in my opinion. That, and I didn't play around with taking shorter exposures to possibly capture beams.
It was quite a long show. However, we couldn't stay out too late to continue. Perhaps, and hopefully, next opportunity we'll find another location.

Hubby and I decided we'd take ourselves out for a drive on the King's birthday. and beyond was on our minds, with the hopes to find a little bit of for the kids.

Did you miss the show? I did. I believe I saw tinges of magenta in Western Sydney's skies at around 7:30pm. I was feeling a little under the weather so I wasn't sure I was up for a drive to the Blue Mountains, but an hour later I decided to grab my things and head out.
This was my second chase. The first time, I'd forgotten my tripod. This time, I should have left much earlier because by the time I'd reached my destination (around 10pm), I was left with Aurora's remnants. I stayed for a little longer hoping for an encore, but alas, she was done for the night and the clouds started to creep in.
What a lovely night and view, nonetheless.

Meet Leia; my sister's furbaby. My little ones had the pleasure of dog-minding her while their aunt was overseas for a number of days. And so on the last day, I thought why not take a few photos of her.
