For World Environment Day, the children from Love Play Learn Family Day Care created their very own Earth and explored how plants grow through hands-on planting and nurturing experiences. 🌎🌱
The children first painted their cardboard Earth blue to represent the oceans. They then used cotton balls to create the land before sprinkling chia seeds over the top. Our little learners took turns each day spraying the seeds with water and carefully observing the changes.
As the seeds began to sprout and grow, the children learned about the essential role that water, sunlight, and care play in supporting plant growth. This experience encouraged curiosity, responsibility, and a deeper understanding of how we can care for living things and our environment.
Through planting, watering, and watching their seeds flourish, the children developed a meaningful connection to nature and the importance of caring for our planet.

Going on a nature walk gives children valuable opportunities to connect with the natural world and learn through hands-on experiences. 🌿
They develop curiosity and observation skills as they notice changes in the environment, different plants, insects and weather. It also encourages language and thinking as children ask questions, share ideas and use new vocabulary to describe what they see, hear, smell and touch.
Nature walks support wellbeing too. Time outdoors helps children feel calm, reduces stress, and builds confidence and independence as they explore. They also learn respect for the environment and care for living things.

Our little eco-warriors from Sakshi's Smallwonders FDC celebrated World Environment Day by giving everyday waste a new purpose! 🥚
Instead of throwing away eggshells, the children transformed them into tiny biodegradable pots for their winter garden, carefully filling them with soil and planting carrot seedlings.
This hands on experience sparked conversations about reducing waste, reusing natural materials, and caring for our planet. The children discovered that eggshells can naturally break down in the soil, providing nutrients to help plants grow while reducing landfill waste.
By nurturing these little seedlings, they’re also nurturing a love for sustainability and teaching that even small actions can make a big difference for the environment.
We can’t wait to watch their winter crop grow! 🌱💚

Winter may bring cooler weather, but the garden is still thriving at Khaleda’s Family Day Care! 🌱💧
The children enjoyed helping to water and care for their garden, learning the importance of nurturing living things and taking responsibility for the environment around them.
Gardening provides wonderful opportunities for hands-on learning, encouraging curiosity, patience, and a connection to nature in every season.
