This week in our preschool room, the children have been learning all about the letter O 🧡
And what starts with O? ORANGE! 🍊
Our educators used the children’s love of sensory experiences to extend on their early literacy development through hands-on learning, exploration, and play. Experiences like these help children build letter recognition, language skills, and confidence in a fun and meaningful way. ✨

🌟 This week our Caterpillars have been busy exploring, creating, and learning! 🌟
🎨 Creative Arts – The children explored colours and tools of their choice to create their own paintings. This experience supported their imagination, creativity, and fine motor development while encouraging self-expression.
🏃 Physical Development – Our indoor foam obstacle course gave the children opportunities to strengthen their gross motor skills, balance, and coordination. They also practiced turn-taking, sharing, and helping peers, supporting both physical and social development.
🌈 Cognitive Skills – By jumping onto sensory tiles and naming the colours, the Caterpillars built on their colour recognition and memory, while also engaging their bodies in active play.
🧩 Problem Solving & Fine Motor – Shape-sorting puzzles encouraged persistence, concentration, and hand–eye coordination as the children refined their fine motor skills.
🐾 Understanding the World – Through animal sound games, sensory trays, and animal cleaning stations, the children explored matching and identifying, while also learning about care, health, and hygiene practices in relation to animals.
✨ It has been a wonderful week of discovery and growth. We look forward to sharing more of the Caterpillars’ learning journey with you next week. ✨

✨📚 Book Week 2025 📚✨
Last week, PELC celebrated the magic of books with so many fun experiences! 🌟
The children explored The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? through colourful art and craft, bringing these beloved stories to life. 🐛🐻🎨
We also whipped up some magical witches’ potions 🧙♀️✨ and enjoyed a variety of engaging experiences that encouraged imagination, creativity, and a love of storytelling. 💫
Book Week is always such a special time to connect children with the joy of reading, and we loved seeing their excitement shine through every activity! ❤️

✨ Science Week at PELC!🔬🍬
To begin Science Week, our curious little scientists in the Butterflies have been busy exploring the wonders of the world around them! 🌏💡
🟢 We created atoms and molecules using colourful playdough and spaghetti – a hands-on way to see how the building blocks of everything connect.
🫧 We discovered how germs work using pepper and dishwashing liquid, watching how soap makes those “germs” scatter!
🍋 And we had a tasty experiment, making our own fizzy sherbet while learning all about reactions.
We love seeing our children’s eyes light up as they explore, experiment, and ask “why?” – the best way to learn! 💛
