Just in time for the end of school holidays, Lowanna Park Playground has re-opened with some awesome new features!

Inspired by the large number of tall trees at the site, the upgrade includes a new tree house with climbing net, tall slide, fireman’s pole, refreshed sand pit, new structures and lots more!

The park is also fully fenced, has plenty of shade and includes public toilet facilities.

CONNECTING WITH TECHNOLOGY

One of our educators Miss Crystal is visiting her family in China, the children have been questioning where Miss Crystal is and what she is doing.
To share her holiday with us Miss Crystal emailed photo's of her family in China and the different places she has visited. There was a lot of excitement as everyone gathered around the laptop to see the photo's.

Being able to access and use different technologies allows for the children to connect with their world, resource their own learning and investigate ideas. The children were also able to gain knowledge of the Chinese culture as they identified similarities and differences.

EXPLORING ST LEONARDS

Today the children at Puddleducks went on an excursion to explore our local community and buy a special Easter treat of hot cross buns from the supermarket.
Our adventure started with walking up the street towards the train station, there was lots to see and the children enjoyed saying hello to the different people they passed and looking at the different buildings and cars.
There was the opportunity to look over the train platform and watch the trains come and go before enjoying our hot cross buns in front of the water fountain and then chase away the birds who had come to nibble at the crumbs.

Engaging the children in the local community allows for them to enhance their sense of belonging, discover new interests and transfer their learning from our centre environment to the everyday environments.

PLAY AND LEARNING AT PUDDLEDUCKS!

Everyday we find ways to grow, connect with our environment, learn new skills, take risks and have fun.

A little bit of rain never stops us from having fun at Puddleducks!

From splashing to sliding down the wet hill, the children wanted to stay out in the rain all day.

Mayor Gail enjoyed her visit as much as we did at Puddleducks. Thank you for visiting!

COMMUNITY CONNECTIONS

Mayor Gail arrived for her special visit today, the children were all so excited and had been talking about her arrival all morning. The children were very eager to show her lots of different things at Puddleducks, including our tomato's which have been growing and ripening over the past few days.
Mayor Gail showed the children how she wore a long medal and a chain that had all the different names of the people who had been the mayor before Mayor Gail.

The children then asked Mayor Gail if she would like to see the bee hive and lane way garden. Mayor Gail told the children how the bee hive had been given to us from another council and she took some pictures so she could share how well it was going and how happy the bees were.

Mayor Gail stayed at Puddleducks and watched everyone play and have fun for almost a whole hour, when it was time to go we gave Mayor Gail the flowers and bee that we had made for her and everyone got to give her a high five and said thank you for visiting.

WELCOME BACK PUDDLEDUCKS!

We hope everyone has had a great break, we are very excited for all the amazing things we have planned for this year.

One exciting discovery we made this morning was finding two cocoons on our tomato plants. We will be watching them very closely and can't wait to see if a butterfly appears.

To continue this interest and discovery; together with their educator the children read the very hungry caterpillar story.
