Fast fashion sells us clothes so cheap that we don't see the value in them. We don't see the creativity and skill involved in making a garment from a pile of fabric, or in making fabric from a plant that was first grown in a field.
We don't see this value, because we aren't asked to cover it. Brands aren't covering it either, we're getting these cheap prices at the literal expense of the people who make our clothes. The people who, 98% of the time, are not paid a fair, living wage that meets their basic needs.
So yeah, a T-shirt should cost more than your coffee.
And in fact, your coffee should probably cost more too, in a world where what is 'fair trade' is considered a luxury to buy, not a right that every worker deserves.
