We are getting so close to the start of National Science Week, and the Indigenous Science Experience at Redfern Community Day on August 9. There are so many great people to learn from at this event.
Meet Leigh Budden and Robert Fuller.
Leigh is of Dharug and British descent and a member of the Dharug Ngurra Aboriginal Corporation. His research interests include Aboriginal Languages of the east coast of New South Wales, Cultural Astronomy and Petroglyph Art of the Hawkesbury sandstone region.
Robert (Bob) is a cultural astronomer who has made it his ‘third age’ goal of letting everyone know about the science of Aboriginal knowledge of the night sky. Bob and Leigh are excited to be able to share their knowledges though some fascinating talks at the community day. The image of the Milky Way here is by arrtist Lucy West.
We are also thrilled to have physicist Deb Kane and science teacher Sarah Durack presenting the science of light and the application of light-based technologies that are part of all of our daily lives. Come and be inspired to learn more about light with some demonstrations of “lights, optics, colour”.
