ART IN THE CITY: ARCHIBALD TO CANVAS.
Year 10 Visual Arts students travelled to Sydney last week to see the Archibald Prize and Sydney Biennale exhibitions at the Art Gallery of NSW. Following the gallery visit, the students participated in an artmaking workshop with Sydney-based visual artist and Archibald finalist, Bronte Leighton Dore, at Mrs Macquarie’s Chair, giving them a hands-on opportunity to channel their insights into their own creative expressions.

SYDNEY WRITERS FESTIVAL
This week, some of our Year 9 and 10 English students attended the Secondary School Days at the Sydney Writers' Festival. Over five dynamic presentations, students were challenged to consider new perspectives, explore narrative structures, and gain firsthand insights into the professional writing and publishing process.
Events like these are vital for fostering critical thinking and inspiring the next generation of Australian storytellers. Thank you to the organizers and featured authors for an exceptional educational experience.

ARTEXPRESS
Senior Visual Arts and Photography students visited the Art Gallery of NSW in Sydney to view the ArtExpress, where they were inspired by the exceptional artworks created by the class of 2025. They also took time to view the other collections in the gallery and heard directly from an AGNSW curator, which further deepened their appreciation of the art world and related industries.

YPACC
Last week, our talented year 10 and 11 elective students took the stage each night at Youth Performing Arts Central Coast (YPACC) at Laycock Street Theatre. Their performances showcased an incredible range of talent across genres including Jazz, Musical Theatre, Rock and Roll and even an original composition from Myah K in Year 10.
We were also proud to see several of our GPCC alumni' Matilda W and Amelia H return to the stage and deliver outstanding performances that truly lit up the room.
It was a joy and a blessing to witness our students using their God-given gifts to inspire and uplift through the performing arts.

LEARNING NEVER TASTED SO GOOD!
Today, we were delighted to welcome experienced chef and engaging educator Luca Roncari back to GPCC for an International Cooking Excursion with our Year 8 French students and Year 11 Food & Hospitality students.
Students enjoyed a hands-on culinary experience, learning how to make traditional crêpes while following instructions in French. Combining language learning with practical cooking skills made for a fun, interactive, and delicious lesson. Judging by the smiles and the finished crêpes, the experience was a great success—and the perfect treat on a cold day!
