For anyone who missed this story which was written and published by St George & Sutherland Shire Leader Wednesday 6 May 2026.
Peter passed away unexpectedly doing what he loved most—sailing his Heron dinghy. A fixture of the Port Hacking Open Sailing Club, Peter’s passion for the water was matched only by his dedication to his family. His absence leaves a profound hole in our community and, most acutely, in the lives of his wife, Rose, and their two sons, Stewart and James.
On behalf of the friends and family of Peter Connor, our club is reaching out to ask for support during an incredibly difficult time., and on that basis a Go Fund Me donation page has been created please see https://gofund.me/66787e569 for more information

The Port Hacking Open Sailing Club launched a fundraiser to support Rose, Stewart, and James after the sudden loss of Peter, who loved sailing and his family deeply.
This is a tough time for them, especially with funeral costs, urgent home repairs, and daily needs. Your support can help ease their burden and honor Peter’s memory.
Even a small donation can make a difference as they navigate this difficult period.
Thank you so much for keeping the Conner family in your thoughts.

The photo says it all, it’s been nearly a week, and so far today the wind forecast is not what they said. Out on the water in front of Willarong Point, it’s glassy and lacking breeze RIP Peter Connor

Friends, I am finding this hard to write, on Sunday 12 April 2026 my friend Peter Stanley Connor passed away, at approximately 2:30pm while sailing at our Club (PHOSC) despite the quick recovery from the water by the clubs rescue boat, and my best efforts to revive him onboard the rescue boat and the wonderful paramedics who attended at Wonga Rd Yowie Bay he did not wake up to sail another race, or fight another injustice by government departments,
Peter was a mate to me for over 55 years, my deepest condolences to his wife Rosemary and sons James and Stewart,
RIP Peter.
