What can you discover when you take a closer look at the tiny creatures around us?

Our children have been exploring insects through our Book of Bugs, learning to recognise different insects, noticing their features and sharing what they already know.

From ants and beetles to butterflies and other tiny garden visitors, the children have been observing, comparing and asking questions about the insects they encounter.

A simple interest in bugs can lead to so many conversations about nature, living things and the world around us.

There's something special about seeing children realise they can make a difference.

Jeans for Genes Day was filled with excitement at Prepare Early Education Centre as our children proudly wore their favourite jeans, created their own denim-inspired artwork and helped run a bake sale to raise funds for an important cause.

What made the day so memorable wasn't just the fun—it was the opportunity for children to be part of something bigger than themselves. From serving customers and handling money to making choices and working together, they experienced firsthand how small acts of kindness can have a meaningful impact.

These real-world experiences help children build confidence, develop early numeracy and communication skills, and foster empathy, responsibility and a sense of community.

We're so proud of our young learners for embracing the day with such enthusiasm, and we're incredibly grateful to our families for supporting this wonderful cause.

Together, we're helping children learn that even the smallest hands can make a big difference.

Our team recently attended the Australian Catholic University Careers Expo, where we had the opportunity to meet aspiring early childhood professionals, share career pathways within Prepare Early Education Centres and showcase what makes our organisation different.

A special thank you to our Area Manager, Kylie, who spoke with future educators about our culture, our values and our unwavering commitment to child safety. Creating safe, nurturing environments where children can learn, grow and thrive is at the heart of everything we do, and it's a responsibility we proudly share with every member of our team.

We're always excited to connect with passionate educators who want to make a meaningful difference in children's lives.

Sometimes the simplest experiences create the biggest learning opportunities.

Using medicine droppers and paint, our children explored a hands-on Earth-inspired art experience that encouraged creativity, concentration and fine motor development. As they carefully squeezed, observed and experimented, they strengthened the small muscles needed for future writing while developing confidence through purposeful play.

At Prepare Early Education, we believe children learn best when they are actively exploring, creating and discovering. By providing open-ended experiences that encourage curiosity and investigation, our educators foster a lifelong love of learning in a meaningful and engaging way.

This learning experience aligns with the Early Years Learning Framework by supporting children to become confident and involved learners as they investigate, problem-solve and develop persistence (Learning Outcome 4), while also fostering a sense of connection with the world around them (Learning Outcome 2).

Real-Life Learning Through Food

From kneading pizza dough and selecting fresh toppings to carefully rolling sushi, children explored how everyday experiences can become meaningful opportunities for learning. As they measured, mixed, created and shared, they developed an understanding of processes while building confidence, independence and a sense of achievement.

This experience reflects the Early Years Learning Framework by supporting children to develop a strong sense of identity as they make choices and contribute their own ideas, build wellbeing through healthy food experiences and growing independence, become confident and involved learners as they experiment and solve problems, and strengthen their communication skills through conversations, shared planning and collaborative learning.

At Prepare Early Education, our Prepare Program values authentic, hands-on experiences that encourage children to investigate, ask questions and learn through doing. Cooking provides rich opportunities to strengthen fine motor skills, early mathematical thinking, language development, problem-solving and collaboration, all within a purposeful and engaging context.

What does a child-first culture look like?

It isn't defined by one big moment. It's reflected in the small decisions, everyday interactions, and intentional practices that shape a child's experience.

In this video, we explore what a child-first culture can look like in early childhood education through practices found in centres that follow our Prepare Program and share strong child safety and wellbeing systems.

From the way educators interact with children to the environments they create and the decisions they make each day, every moment is an opportunity to prioritise children's rights, wellbeing, learning, and sense of belonging.

Watch to discover what happens when children's best interests are placed at the centre of everything.

Because when children come first, everything else follows.

As part of our Jumping Jacks (Preschool) Project-Based Learning (PBL) project on community service, our children explored the important role firefighters play in keeping our communities safe.

Guided by an inquiry-based approach, the children asked questions, investigated how firefighters help during emergencies, and discovered the tools they use to protect the community. Within our play-based learning environment, these ideas came to life through meaningful, hands-on experiences that encouraged curiosity, collaboration, and problem-solving.

The children stepped into the role of firefighters by dressing up, creating their own firefighter badges, exploring a real fire hose, and using spray bottles to put out pretend fires. These engaging experiences supported creativity, teamwork, fine motor development, and critical thinking while helping children build a deeper understanding of community helpers and their important role in keeping us safe.

By learning through play and inquiry, children develop the confidence to explore real-world concepts, investigate their ideas, and make meaningful connections with the world around them.

There’s history behind this excursion…

This NAIDOC Week, our children explored the story of Colebee and the importance of connection to Country through a meaningful learning experience beyond our centre gates.

During their excursion to the local park, the children discovered the history behind the Colebee commemorative pillars, learning about the significance of this place while listening to Indigenous stories and participating in an Acknowledgement of Country.

As part of this experience, the children planted their Sea of Hands beside the Colebee pillars — a symbol of respect, remembrance and connection to community. Each hand was individually decorated by the children, representing their contribution to celebrating First Nations cultures and acknowledging the importance of belonging.

Before the excursion, the children prepared through NAIDOC Week experiences, including singing Taba Naba together with their educators and exploring cultural symbols through creative learning.

The experience concluded with weaving, where children demonstrated teamwork, concentration and fine motor skills as they carefully threaded ribbons and fabrics through the structures.

Through play-based and inquiry-led learning, children are developing a deeper appreciation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories and connections to Country while strengthening their sense of belonging, respect and community.

NAIDOC Week invites children to learn through connection, creativity, and respect.

Across our centres, children engaged in meaningful experiences that celebrated the cultures, histories, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples through inquiry-based learning within a play-based environment. Through open-ended experiences, children were encouraged to ask questions, investigate, explore, and make connections to the world around them.

Our babies explored Indigenous-inspired sensory experiences using natural materials, Australian animals, and cultural symbols, encouraging curiosity, sensory exploration, and an early appreciation of diversity. They also discovered the Aboriginal Flag through creative art, learning about the significance of its colours and the stories they represent.

Inspired by the Dreaming story "How the Birds Got Their Colours", preschool children expressed their understanding through vibrant bird paintings, exploring the rich tradition of Aboriginal storytelling while developing creativity, language, and cultural awareness.

Children also created traditional-inspired bush toys using clay, sticks, leaves, string, and other natural materials. This hands-on experience supported fine motor development, problem-solving, creativity, and an appreciation for the sustainable use of natural resources while learning about Indigenous connections to Country.

By providing rich, play-based and inquiry-led experiences, we create opportunities for children to develop respect, understanding, and a deeper connection to Australia's First Nations cultures.
