HAMAZKAYIN NAIRI CHOIR | CELEBRATING 100 YEARS OF KHACHATUR AVETISYAN 🎶🇦🇲
On 22 August, Hamazkayin Nairi Choir proudly presented a special concert celebrating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Maestro Khachatur Avetisyan, one of the great masters of Armenian folk music and a towering figure in Armenia’s cultural heritage.
Through his music, Avetisyan preserved the spirit, melodies and traditions of our people while giving Armenian folk music new expression and ensuring it would continue to resonate with generations to come. His music carries our history, our identity and the unmistakable soul of Armenia.
For our Sydney-Armenian community, this concert was more than an anniversary. It was an opportunity to connect generations, honour our cultural inheritance and ensure the works of our great Armenian artists continue to be heard, appreciated and celebrated far from our homeland.
Our deepest appreciation goes to Artistic Director & Conductor Aghavni Markarian, whose dedication, leadership and commitment were at the heart of this special presentation.
Sincere thanks also to Pianist & Assistant Conductor Margarita Porter and Hamazkayin Nairi Choir Group Head Roubina Grigorian for their leadership, support and tireless work in strengthening Nairi Choir and its important place within our community.
Special thanks to Concert Narrator Anna Chokekchyan for guiding our audience so beautifully through the evening, and to Samvel Topalyan for his wonderful voice-over narration.
We were also delighted to have the Hamazkayin Nairi Dance Group Sydney contribute to the celebration. Heartfelt thanks to Nairi Dance Group Sydney Head Lena Harapetian, Artistic Director Angineh Karabedian, and all our wonderful dancers for bringing the beauty, energy and spirit of Armenian dance to the stage.
We were especially honoured by the presence and warm words of His Grace Bishop Vardan Navasardyan, Srpazan Hayr, whose reflections highlighted the importance of keeping Armenian culture, music and identity alive within our community.
Our sincere appreciation also goes to the representatives of our sister chapters and community organisations, and to everyone who supported, assisted and contributed behind the scenes to make this concert possible.
And finally, thank you to our wonderful audience. Your presence, encouragement and continued support give purpose to everything we do.
For Hamazkayin Nairi, evenings such as this embody our mission: to preserve, promote and pass on Armenian culture from one generation to the next.
One hundred years after his birth, Maestro Khachatur Avetisyan’s music continues to live, inspire and unite Armenians across the world.
May it continue to do so for generations to come. 🇦🇲❤️
