The kid are keen about languages, probably from the rich Japanese program they have at school. Half an hour on DuoLingo, a couple of times a week will help nurture this interest.

Today we did a cool maths activity using our dart board. Each child had 1 dart and they took turns throwing it at the board. Toddler threw first and had to say the number it landed on. Stage 2 student threw dart and had to add both numbers. Stage 3 student threw final dart and had to multiply two of the numbers. If you don’t have a dartboard, make one or do the same activity drawing it in chalk and throwing objects into it.
You can mix it up to incorporate subtraction and division as well and have both students work on equations using all three numbers.

I hope your first day back learning from home went okay.
I’d love to hear your ideas on what activities you have used or plan to use with the kids to while away the days in lockdown while the kids are learning from home.

If your kids school is anything like ours then their focus is only on Maths and English. Therefore you only need to aim for about 3 hours to cover both of those subjects. That leaves lots of time to cover the other important subject areas like music, drama, art, physical education, languages, science, technology.
Now is the time for your kids to learn that new skill they always talk about. More great resources here: https://education.nsw.gov.au/teaching-and-learning/learning-from-home/learning-at-home.html?fbclid=IwAR2VX4iO0TJGs9x-N74Fa_EkQ7YPtrqZFZt9y1wL5-1FtLRts9e22jJxDlI

Whist the rest of the world are coming out of a year of lockdowns those of us in Sydney, Australia are into our third week of one.
The length of lockdown is not known but the aim is clear. Due to our success over the past 18 months of controlling the virus we don’t have enough immunity in our population to live successfully along side it.
We have had very little restriction placed on us for at least 12 months however this time round it seems harder. We have tasted our freedom and we are having it taken away again.
It feels more isolating this time around too because when we did it early last year we were all in it together. Now it feels like it is just us.
So since lockdown is on us again, let’s stick together and get through it so we can get back to living, right in time for when the weather warms up again.
Stay safe Sydney.

This is such an interactive book and the play elements associated with it are endless. This book is great for prepositional language and this should be the focus of the play.
Post reading activity: Try role playing the various parts of the story. Create environments around the house or yard and go under, over and through them as you search for the bear.
Start with a few obstacles and increase these each time you play. Don't forget to remember them so you can go back through them when you are running away from the bear on your way back home.

Gross motor skills involve getting outside and running, jumping, and playing.
These skills are important to allow your child to navigate the playground when they reach school age.
The inclusion of outdoor, active play is important in a well-rounded pre-school programme.
