After all the testing over the last 3 months, the winner is Constrictive Pericarditis! Therefore, I am to have a Pericardiectomy. This involves open heart surgery. I am therefore going to have a sternotomy, again.
St Vincent's has not performed this surgery in over 3 years. Apparently only 3000 have been performed world wide. A surgeon told me it's a leap of faith. They have not had a successful pericardiectomy performed on a heart transplant recipient in over 10 years. I'm so grateful to have the opportunity to undergo this surgery rather than the alternative.

Today is Day 10 in St Vincent's Private Hospital and I hope to be discharged today.

I've had an internal jugular doppler, Cardiac MRI, CT Venous, Barriun swallow, ECHO, Brain MRI and a Lumbar Punch.

On Wednesday I had a hot date with a Gastroenterologist and some plastic tubing.

I feel like I have had my tonsils out as they deliberately tore my throat to repair a narrowing in the oesophagus and cut away some muscle at the top of the oesophagus.

I had a left right heart catheters to measure pressures in heart chambers and lungs, Venous blood gas study, heart biopsies and screening for cardiomyopathy or pericarditis.

I came into hospital on Thursday 19th for an Infusion for immunoglobulin and I was admitted that afternoon instead of going home as planned.

I've been in here long enough to need a small van or removalists to pack up everything I have collected.

Now I wait for all the results to come back and hopefully the transplant team will make a decision about the next step...

Do I have the heart lining removed or start the work up for another heart transplant.
