๐ณ๐ต Sydney Met supports Nepal after floods and landslides
We are deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic loss of life and devastation experienced by people and communities in Nepal following the landslide and flash flood on Wednesday, 26 August 2026. At this difficult time, our thoughts are with everyone affected. We extend our deepest sympathies to those who have lost loved ones, homes or livelihoods, and we stand in solidarity with the people and communities in Nepal who are facing the ongoing consequences of this disaster.
โSydney Met has announced a contribution of AUD 10,101.00 (AUD Ten Thousand One Hundred and One only), equivalent to about NPR 1,099,392.00 (NPR Ten Lakhs Ninety-nine Thousand Three Hundred Ninety-Two only), towards the Prime Minister's Disaster Relief Fund of Nepal for disaster relief and recovery efforts in Nepal. Sydney Met members are also actively involved in other fundraising and humanitarian initiatives supporting Nepal. One such platform is Bridge The Gap Nepal (BTGN), raising AUD 18,164, which is being transferred to the Prime Ministerโs Disaster Relief Fund. Also, members of the Sydney Met community have contributed NPR 200,000 (approximately AUD 1,900) to the NRNA ICC Relief Fund. The contribution from the Sydney Met community extends beyond financial assistance. Its members have been actively participating in media interviews, public discussions, debates and advocacy initiatives, raising awareness about the disaster and encouraging greater support for relief, recovery and disaster resilience in Nepal.
At this difficult time, we send our solidarity and support to the Sydney Met community, and to the people of Nepal, and the surrounding region.
