π‘ Welcome Aboard, Dr. Jawad Ahmed!
We are delighted to welcome Dr. Jawad Ahmed to Sydney Met's School of Information Technology and Engineering (SITE).
π Dr. Jawad Ahmed is an academic and researcher specialising in cybersecurity, computer networks, machine learning, and data analytics. He holds a PhD in Electrical and Telecommunication Engineering from UNSW Sydney, where his research focused on detecting cyber threats in enterprise networks using DNS traffic analysis and machine learning techniques.
Dr. Ahmed has extensive teaching experience across undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Australia, delivering courses in cybersecurity, machine learning, business analytics, advanced networking, and information technology. He is passionate about creating engaging and practical learning environments that bridge theoretical concepts with real-world industry applications.
Prior to joining academia full-time, Dr. Ahmed worked as a Senior Research Associate at UNSW Sydney, contributing to cybersecurity research in smart grids and distributed energy resources. His research work has been published in leading IEEE and ACM journals and conferences, particularly in the areas of network security, anomaly detection, and cyber-physical systems security.
His research interests include cybersecurity, computer networks, artificial intelligence, machine learning, software-defined networking, and data-driven security analytics.

We are delighted to welcome Dr. Dristi Datta to Sydney Met's School of Information Technology and Engineering (SITE) as a Lecturer and Course Coordinator.
Dr. Datta holds a Ph.D. in Computational Theory from Charles Sturt University and was awarded both the Higher Degree by Research (HDR) Medal and the Outstanding Thesis Prize in recognition of his academic excellence.
π With over 10 years of teaching and research experience, his expertise spans Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Remote Sensing, and Computer Vision. π
π Dr. Datta has published extensively in high-impact journals and is committed to delivering practical, industry-focused learning experiences that connect cutting-edge research with real-world applications.

Sydney Met is proud to share the publication of a new research article, "Leakage-Safe Precision-Aware Dual-Branch FT-Transformer for Population-Scale Heart Disease Risk Prediction," in Sensors (MDPI).
This study presents a novel precision-aware deep learning framework designed to improve large-scale heart disease risk prediction while addressing key challenges such as data leakage, class imbalance, and precisionβrecall trade-offs in healthcare AI.
