Never underestimate the power an individual has to make positive environmental changes. No matter how small or insignificant they may seem. Think global, act local.

Myall Road Reserve (Lake Macquarie region) is about to go under the bulldozer next week (from the 10th of March). If you are able to, please get out there and help tell them this is not okay. It's not too late to save this beautiful forest.

It's summer time again which means Blue-tongue Lizards "Blueys" are out and moving - often crossing roads. If you drive, please help keep these guys safe and prevent this happy lizard on the top from ending up like the one below it. Blueys are common in suburbia and cars are probably the greatest threat to their survival in developed areas. Both of these photos were taken in Hornsby (Sydney), the living lizard was photographed in my backyard, the dead one was on my street. I have never had an issue spotting these lizards while travelling at 100 km/hr on country roads, I can't understand how people do not see them on 50 km/hr streets in the suburbs.

Some photos from a recent herpetofauna survey at Ingleside Chase and Irrawong Reserves in Warriewood on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. The survey was associated with ongoing bush regeneration efforts in the reserves, to look for correlations between habitat restoration and fauna diversity. A total of 7 reptile and 6 frog species were detected this year, including the threatened Giant Burrowing Frog (Heleioporus australiacus) and locally uncommon Brown Tree Snake (Boiga irregularis). Thanks to Jayden, Gen and Leo for assisting with the survey!

Hornsby Council seeks stronger tree protection - Hornsby Shire Council 18/11/2017

3% canopy loss in a single year! This equates a loss of 15,000 trees in Hornsby Shire Council. Let's hope the Council can do something to change this, at this rate we will be out of trees in 34 years!
