University of Sydney Sustainability Program Multidisciplinary Sustainability Degree at The University of Sydney. http://sydney.edu.au/science/sustainability/

Do you want to learn about sustainability to take your career in a different direction? Do you need skills and tools to take your sustainability career to the next level? Are you unsure exactly what you want to do, but you know you want to make a difference? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then this postgraduate coursework program is for you. The Sydney Sustainability program is dif

ferent from other programs in that is truly multidisciplinary. Five faculties across the University deliver core content, and seven faculties teaching the program’s electives. This breadth provides a thorough foundation in sustainability. It also allows graduates to appreciate the complexity of sustainability and understand the effects of change in various sectors. Core units cover the breadth of sustainability issues including: health & population, energy & resources, food & water security, policy, society & change, and analysis tools. The Masters degree concludes with a capstone unit that gives students the opportunity to gain experience working on a sustainability problem with a workplace in industry, government or an NGO. 💡 An update from Christopher Wright, coordinator of the University of Sydney's Sustainability: Business and Leadership unit of study:

🗣️ "A great showing of creativity and critical thinking in the final class of our unit SUST5006: Sustainability: Business and Leadership. Ten amazing group poster presentations exploring sustainability disputes as varied as offshore wind, salmon farming, AI data centres in India, deep-sea mining, and the battle over krill fisheries in Antarctica. Great to be a part of the University of Sydney’s excellent Master of Sustainability program and educating tomorrow’s sustainability leaders!"

🍃 To celebrate finishing last semester, students from PHYS5031 Ecological Economics and Sustainability Analysis, PHYS5803 Sustainability in a Post-Growth World, and PHYS4801 Industrial Ecology went on a field trip to Narara Eco Village.

🗣️ From unit coordinator Vivienne Reiner: “Talks included residents: retired Snowy-Hydro energy expert, chief sustainability officer, and biodiversity consultant. This is a truly sustainable village, with sustainable homes, food co-op, community garden, community hall, and dedicated people practising sociocracy!”

💡 This is open to any postgrad students interested in sustainability. All materials provided - just bring along your own climate story.
📍 The event will be held at the USYD Camperdown Campus, the exact location to be confirmed closer to the date of the event. Register for more details at www.events.humanitix.com/climate-zine-workshop

The Australian Government has a decades-long history of recognising but not delivering on the need for sustainable and climate-responsive homes.

When Australia faced a housing crisis 80 years ago, the government was urged to promote the building of more climate-responsive homes. So why are so many homes today still not made for our climate?
