Sydney Film School hands-on production-based courses are specifically designed to make people into filmmakers.
Both the one-year Diploma of Screen & Media, and the second-year Advanced Diploma of Screen & Media course programs work to strict industry deadlines, and follow a production-house model, working through development, pre-production, production and post-production, culminating in the delivery of the films for end-of-semester showcase film festival at the Chauvel Cinema, Paddington.
Quality documentaries, dramas and individual thesis films, exploring all manner of cinematic forms are being produced each year. After premiering at the Sydney Film School Festival, dozens of them go on to participate at other prestigious local and international festivals. Since the School’s establishment in 2004 student films have screened in more than 140 festivals worldwide, winning over 40 awards.
Both Sydney Film School courses are recognized by the Australian and international film and television industries. The courses are nationally accredited within the nominated standards of the Australian Screen (Film & Television) Industries and audited by the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) on behalf of the Australian Government.
