Amanda King from the Australian Finishing School said people's work attire standards have changed.

"I know Australia has a reputation for being quite a casual society, but there is still a level of respect for yourself and for everyone else to put on something clean and decent for the day and put in the effort."

She believes a more formal approach to workwear can help people have more impact and influence in their positions.

"If you're dressed well and you're dressed appropriately, people treat you better and they respect you. They trust what you're saying a little bit more," she said.

Ms King says having clean and appropriate bedding and beds is essential.

Beyond the basics — food and shelter — Ms King recommends offering activities to guests beforehand. This ensures everyone is on the same page.

"I don't think even guests like an overly scheduled weekend," she says, suggesting no more than one activity a day.

In order to make the day as stress-free as possible, give guests all the information they’ll need to help set expectations, advises Amanda King, director of the Australian Finishing School. “This means including dress code information, RSVP date and a request for any dietary requirements, but also what they can bring to help ease the load,” she says.
