Now is a good time to have your Expression of Interest submitted in Skill Select with 65 points or more.

The last Skill Select invitation round from the Dept Home Affairs in December 2022 included 35,000 invitations issued across all occupations starting from 65 points. This included the 189 visa, which usually only received an invitation if you had 100 points or more in a highly specialised occupation.

It will be interesting to see how many invitations are issued in January 2023, across which occupations, and from how many points?

What can you do now to take advantage of this generous approach from the DHA?

1. Have your skills assessment completed.
2. Take the English language test (all passport holders, not only non-English speakers.
3. Take the NAATI language accreditation test (translation).

Great news for Hairdressers and their ability to apply for permanent residence..
My client (Hairdresser) received an invite to apply for NSW State sponsorship, with only 65 points claimed in her Expression of Interest. NSW are processing applications in 2 days, so we can expect an invitation to apply for the 190 visa very shortly. After we apply, she will get a Bridging Visa A to remain in Australia and may continue working while we wait for her visa to be approved.
