National Reconciliation Week ๐ฟโ๏ธ
During National Reconciliation Week, children explore nature and engage in sensory experiences, gradually developing a deeper connection with land, nature, and all living things through their everyday learning ๐๐คโค๏ธ
๐ธ Frozen Flower Sensory Exploration โ๏ธ
The children took part in a delightful โfrozen flowersโ sensory activity ๐ธโ๏ธ.
Using droppers, they carefully dripped warm water onto blocks of ice and watched as the ice slowly melted, revealing hidden flowers inside little by little. This process filled them with anticipation and wonder. Some children widened their eyes in focused observation, while others excitedly exclaimed, โThe flower is coming out!โ
They also gently touched the ice, feeling the contrast of coldness and the gradual softening of the petals. Through this exploration, they acted like little scientistsโobserving, waiting, and discoveringโwhile developing fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and sensory awareness.
๐ฑ Chia Seed Pet Planting Experience ๐ง
On another day, the children participated in a warm and meaningful โChia Seed Petโ planting activity ๐ฑ๐.
Each child had their own small paper cup with their name written on it, creating a sense of ownership, anticipation, and responsibility. They carefully scooped soil, sprinkled seeds, covered them, and gently watered their little pots, showing deep focus and engagement throughout each step.
During the process, the children shared their thoughts and questions: โWhen will it grow?โ โDoes it need water every day?โ The classroom was filled with curiosity and gentle conversations.
Just like little companions, the tiny seeds were lovingly cared for and eagerly awaited as they begin their journey of growth ๐ฑโจ

๐ง๏ธ๐โ๏ธ Exploring the Secrets of Seasons & Weather โ๏ธ
This week, the children participated in a range of hands-on sensory experiences based on the theme โSeasons & Weatherโ ๐ฆ๏ธโจ
During group time, the children observed the daily weather and confidently shared that it was โrainy and cloudyโ ๐ง๏ธโ๏ธ
These discussions supported their observational skills, language development, and ability to connect real-life experiences with conversation.
The children then explored a fun rain and cloud sensory activity using blue-coloured water, cotton pad โclouds,โ droppers, and sensory trays ๐ง
They practised squeezing and releasing the droppers, strengthening fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination while exploring how rain forms.
โ๏ธ Winter Sensory Tray
Children explored a snow-like mixture made from baking soda and dishwashing liquid, along with ice pieces to investigate cold temperatures and melting.
When a child asked, โWhy is the ice melting?โ, the educator introduced simple scientific concepts about temperature and change ๐ก๏ธ
๐ Autumn Sensory Tray
Using soil, dry leaves, plants, and digging tools, the children engaged in imaginative gardening and planting play ๐ฑ
This naturally led to conversations about harvest season, nature, and where food comes from.
Through sensory exploration and inquiry-based play, the children developed curiosity, scientific thinking, creativity, and sensory awareness ๐

๐ฟ๐ฆ Nature Exploration Incursion Day | Little Scientists in Action! โจ๐
Today we had an amazing special incursion all about gardening and nature exploration, and the children absolutely loved every moment! ๐๐ฑ
We started by exploring a variety of plants ๐๐ฟ Some had very interesting and strong scents, and the highlight was definitely the lemon mint plant ๐๐ฟ. When the children gently crushed the leaves, a fresh citrus smell filled the air! They were so excited to smell it on their hands and kept exploring again and again ๐๐คฒโจ
Next came our special animal visitors ๐ฆ๐ข๐
We met a lizard, a long-neck turtle, and a leaf insect!
The presenter shared fun and simple information about their features, habitats, and diets ๐๐๐
The children were fascinated and showed so much curiosity and excitement throughout the session ๐๐
After the visit, the children worked together to build a reptile habitat ๐ก๐ฆ
Using cardboard tubes ๐ฆ, leaves ๐, sticks ๐ฟ, and natural materials, they created a wonderful shared space for the animals. It was beautiful to see teamwork, creativity, and problem-solving in action ๐ค๐กโจ
Throughout the experience, the children engaged their five senses ๐๐โ๐๐ง โ touching textures, observing movement, noticing colours, and discovering different scents.
It was a truly meaningful and hands-on learning experience that encouraged curiosity, care for nature, and collaborative learning ๐๐

๐๐ซง Treewood ELC | Car Wash and Racing Fun โจ
This week at Treewood Early Learning Centre, the children enjoyed a fun-filled car exploration experience through messy play, cleaning, and racing.
The children placed their toy cars in the soil, getting them nice and muddy, before taking them to our beautifully set up car wash station to clean them with soapy water. Through this hands-on experience, they explored cause and effect while enjoying sensory play and developing fine motor skills.
They also had great fun racing their cars along the cardboard track, watching closely to see whose car could travel the furthest. This exciting experience encouraged curiosity, prediction, and problem-solving, while also bringing lots of joy and laughter.
At Treewood, we believe children learn best through play, discovery, and meaningful hands-on experiences. ๐๐ฆ
๐ฌ Does your child enjoy playing with toy cars too?

๐๐ฆ Treewood ELC | Insect Exploration Week โจ
This week, the children at Treewood explored the wonderful world of insects through art, observation, and sensory play.
They created insect-inspired shape paintings using their favourite insects and colours, used magnifying glasses to look closely at insect body parts, and our babies enjoyed making soft caterpillars and butterflies with sensory materials.
Through these hands-on experiences, the children developed creativity, curiosity, fine motor skills, and a growing understanding of the natural world. ๐ฟ
At Treewood, we believe learning is most meaningful when children can explore through play, creativity, and discovery.
๐ฌ Has your child shown an interest in insects lately? Weโd love to hear about it!

๐๐ฟ Treewood ELC | Insects Exploration โจ
This week at Treewood Early Learning Centre, our children explored the fascinating world of insects through a range of hands-on and playful learning experiences. By observing, investigating, and engaging with different materials, the children were encouraged to develop curiosity, confidence, and a deeper connection with the natural world around them.
One of the highlights was taking magnifying glasses outdoors to search for tiny insects hidden in the grass and around the garden. The children were excited to look closely at what they found, noticing different shapes, colours, and movements as they explored.
Inside, the children also enjoyed investigating an insect-themed sensory tub prepared by our educators. Filled with loose parts and small insect models, the tub invited children to touch, sort, build, and create their own little insect worlds, supporting imagination and open-ended exploration.
Another exciting experience was our Bottle Treasure Hunt. Although the bottles looked the same on the outside, the children discovered that when they shone a torch through them, different hidden insects appeared inside. This activity sparked a lot of wonder, prediction, and excitement as the children explored each bottle and shared their discoveries.
At Treewood, we believe that nature-based learning helps children build curiosity, observation skills, and respect for the environment. Through these engaging insect experiences, the children are learning to notice the small wonders around them and enjoy the joy of discovery.
๐ฌ Has your child spotted any interesting insects lately? Weโd love to hear about their discoveries!
