Every day at school, 10-year-old Baatar* stood close to the blackboard – the only way he could try to read the writing and learn.

His teacher and parents thought this was normal.

But Baatar couldn’t see properly.

He lives in a small village over 700km from Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia’s capital. So, he had no access to eye checks.

We’d love to say that this is rare. Sadly, it’s not.

In remote and rural villages across Mongolia, children are missing out…

… on basic eye tests
… and the right glasses
… that could change their sight
… from blurry to bright.
