Alhumdulilah, after an incredibly intense and stressful four years - particularly the final six months -Allah has enabled me to complete my Master’s in Fiqh.

When I first began, it felt like standing at the base of a tall, formidable mountain and looking up.

So many times along this journey, I doubted whether I would ever make it to the top.

Yet by the help of Allah, I managed to complete all 15 subjects required as part of my coursework, and then finish my final academic research paper- (by far the greatest challenge of the entire programme).

Over the course of the last 4 years I have written nearly 100,000 words in Arabic, subhana Allah..

Thats why after all the tears and struggles I’ve gone through, it truly feels as though I have now reached the summit of that mountain, especially as Allah has opened doors for me in ways far beyond anything I had imagined or previously made du’a for…

Because not only did He enable me to complete my Master’s in Fiqh, and to write my first academically accepted research paper -which I hope to publish soon, in sha Allah - but to also recently launch a brand new online learning platform for sisters worldwide, Alhumdulillah 🤲🏽😭

This journey of seeking knowledge did not begin four years ago.

It spans more than three decades, from when I first left Australia for Saudi Arabia seeking to study Islam at university, only to encounter many barriers- particularly as a woman and as someone from a non-Arabic-speaking background.

At a time when we see an increasing culture of instant gratification, quick degrees, and the pursuit of overnight success, this journey has taught me something very simple and real: true knowledge is not gained quickly.

Rather, it is acquired over long days and nights, through patience, sacrifice and consistency - even when it is difficult.

As our scholars such as Imam al-Zuhrī رحمه الله said:

‎لا تأخذ العلم جملة؛ فإن من رام أخذه جملة ذهب عنه جملة، ولكن الشيء بعد الشيء مع الأيام والليالي

“Do not take knowledge all at once; for whoever tries to take it all at once, it will escape him all at once. Rather, take one thing after another, (over the course) of days and nights..”
