🖤💛❤️ National Reconciliation Week 2026 ❤️💛🖤

At Young Achievers Early Learning Centre, National Reconciliation Week is an important opportunity for children to learn about and celebrate the rich cultures, histories, traditions and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Throughout the week, our children have engaged in meaningful experiences that promote respect, understanding, belonging and connection to Country. Through stories, art, music, cooking experiences, conversations and shared celebrations with families, children have explored the world’s oldest living cultures and developed a deeper appreciation for Australia’s First Nations peoples.

We proudly acknowledge and pay our respects to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders past, present and emerging. We recognise their ongoing connection to land, waterways, skies, culture and community, and honour the knowledge, wisdom and strength they continue to share with future generations.

Reconciliation begins with education, understanding and relationships. By nurturing children’s curiosity, respect and appreciation for diversity, we are helping to build a future where all Australians walk together with respect, understanding and unity.

Thank you to our families, educators and community members who have joined us throughout the week and helped make our Reconciliation Week celebrations so meaningful.

Together, we learn. Together, we respect. Together, we reconcile.

Acknowledgement and Appreciation – Reconciliation Week 2026

At Young Achievers Early Learning Centre, we sincerely thank Mr Ahmed for generously sharing his time, culture, and support with our children and educators during Reconciliation Week.

This meaningful experience began through the voice of a child. During discussions about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, and communities, little Miss M excitedly asked her father, “Dad, can you come and cook for us?” Listening to and valuing children’s ideas is an important part of our program, and we were delighted to extend an invitation to Mr Ahmed to join us.

Through this partnership, our children experienced the true spirit of Reconciliation Week – bringing families, educators, and the community together to learn from one another, share stories, celebrate culture, and build respectful relationships. Mr Ahmed’s involvement demonstrated the importance of family voice and participation in children’s learning and highlighted how meaningful partnerships strengthen our sense of belonging and community.

We are incredibly grateful for Mr Ahmed’s willingness to be part of our celebrations and for helping create an authentic learning experience that reflected the values of respect, inclusion, connection, and reconciliation. His contribution enriched our program and provided children with a wonderful opportunity to see families and educators working together to celebrate diversity and community.

At Young Achievers, we recognise that reconciliation is strengthened through relationships, shared experiences, and genuine partnerships with families. Thank you, Mr Ahmed, for helping us create lasting memories and meaningful learning opportunities for our children.

“Children learn best when families, educators, and communities work together in partnership.”

With gratitude,

Mrs Kathy Memovic and the YA Team

To Our Dear Aunty Wendy,

During this meaningful time of Reconciliation Week, we would like to sincerely acknowledge and thank you for the incredible wisdom, guidance, and cultural knowledge you have shared with us over the many years at Young Achievers Early Learning Centre.

Your presence within our service has always been deeply valued and respected. Although distance may separate us physically, your spirit, teachings, and love for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture continue to live strongly within our centre each and every day. Your voice is heard in our group discussions, your teachings are reflected in our curriculum, and your passion for culture continues to guide the way we teach, learn, and grow together as a community.

Through your mentorship, our educators have developed a deeper understanding of the importance of embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives authentically and respectfully within everyday practice. You have helped us move beyond simply teaching culture, and instead encouraged us to live it through respect, storytelling, connection to Country, relationships, language, music, art, sustainability, and community partnerships.

Most importantly, the knowledge you have generously shared has now been passed on to our children, families, educators, and the wider community. The children speak proudly about Aboriginal culture and identity, families engage in meaningful conversations and experiences, and our educators continue to reflect upon and strengthen their practices because of the foundations you helped create.

Your teachings continue to shape the hearts and minds of future generations within Young Achievers. The respect, kindness, and cultural understanding that you have nurtured within our service will continue to grow for many years to come.

As we reflect during Reconciliation Week, we acknowledge the powerful impact you have had on our journey toward reconciliation, truth-telling, respect, and unity. Thank you for walking alongside us, guiding us, and trusting us to continue carrying your knowledge forward with integrity and care.

With deep respect, gratitude, and appreciation,

Mrs Kathy Memovic and the YA Team

🖤💛❤️ YOUNG ACHIEVERS EARLY LEARNING CENTRE – NATIONAL RECONCILIATION WEEK 2026 ❤️💛🖤

The 2026 National Reconciliation Week theme, “Bridging Now to Next,” reminds us of the importance of honouring the past while walking together toward a future built on respect, unity, inclusion, and shared understanding. At Young Achievers, we are proud to create meaningful opportunities for children, families, educators, and the wider community to engage with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in authentic and respectful ways.

We value the voices and contributions of our families and community. Through collaborative partnerships, shared learning experiences, community projects, and ongoing communication, we work together to create culturally safe and respectful learning environments for all children.

As educators, we recognise the importance of nurturing children to become kind, respectful, inclusive, and socially responsible citizens who value diversity, equity, and belonging.

Together, we continue to walk forward with respect, learning, and unity as we help shape a brighter future for the next generation.

Lest We Forget: Learning Through Peace and Kindness 🌺

Last Friday at Young Achievers, our children engaged in a gentle and respectful ANZAC experience, learning about remembrance, gratitude, and the importance of peace.

Through storytelling, discussion, and reflection, the children shared beautiful ideas about what it means to feel safe and how we can create peace in our everyday lives: through sharing, kindness, and helping one another.

We took a quiet moment to say “thank you” to the men and women who helped protect our country, and we reflected on how lucky we are to live with freedom, safety, and care.

At Young Achievers, we believe even our youngest learners can begin to understand the values of respect, harmony, and community, helping to shape a more peaceful future.

We remember. We thank. We choose peace.
