Our outdoor obstacle course in action 🌈
Through play, children develop gross motor skills, body awareness and resilience, all while having so much fun.
Learning happens best when it feels like play 💛
Leylands Learning Centre
At Leylands Learning Centre we believe the early childhood years to be the most significant years in Long Day Care
Our children explored a hands-on balancing game today. By walking steadily with their “egg and spoon,” they practised gross-motor control, hand-eye coordination, colour recognition and resilience. We love watching them grow into confident, capable learners every day!!
Leylands Learning Centre 2025 Graduation ✨
Last Friday, we celebrated our beautiful graduates as they get ready to begin their next big adventure — Primary School.
A heartfelt thank you to Ms Christine, Ms Gina, and Ms Ying for pouring so much love, creativity, and dedication into making this ceremony meaningful and memorable. Your hard work shines through every detail.
We are incredibly proud of each of our Leylands graduates.
May your new journey be filled with confidence, curiosity, kindness, and joy.
Congratulations, Class of 2025! 🎓💛🌿
At our centre, lunchtime is more than a meal — it’s a chance to build confidence and independence.
With gentle guidance from Ms Gina, our child proudly served their own pasta today! 🍽️
Moments like this show how capable children are when we give them the space and support to try. We’re so proud of their growing independence!
Our sport incursion program is to help our children developing fundamental Gross Motor Skills, and the same time learning sportsmanship and gaining resilience! Childcare

This week it was ALIA National Simultaneous Storytime – all across Australia between 12-1pm schools and child care centres were all reading “The Truck Cat” by Deborah Frenkel and Danny Snell.
As by 12pm most of our children are sleeping, we read the book earlier at LLC. All of our children loved listening to the story about cats and humans, immigration and identity, and homes lost and found.
Everyone loved meeting Yacoub and his cat Tinka, we think this story will become a favourite at LLC!
In Leena the children have been enjoying lots of circle time, listening to stories and singing songs. They have also enjoyed lots of indoor physical play due to being stuck inside on a long wet week. But their favourite activity this week was painting with bottlebrush leaves! The Bottle Brush is a very common plant that you can see around Australia. In Indigenous Australian culture, the bottlebrush plant holds spiritual significance, representing resilience, abundance, and the connection to the land. It's a symbol of endurance, found in Dreamtime narratives and contemporary art. The flowers, with their bright colors, are also associated with celebrating birth and new beginnings.
Lowan children engaged with lots of creative experiences this week. They loved drawing underneath the table, creating with peg boards, painting with firetrucks, exploring books about letters, birthdays and a truck cat!
Being a long wet week we had fun riding trikes inside and dancing to music to ensure we kept fit and healthy!
Our Paraweena friends were lucky enough to get in a few runs this week during the breaks in rain, it was great to be able to be active for small amounts of time when it was raining so much! The children have been excited to be seeing and using so many umbrellas this week and many of our friends shared stories of jumping in puddles on their way to and from LLC! Being active inside on our wet days, Paraweena went on a number hunt, played a ball game and had a music and movement maze! The children also got creative with playdough, letter ‘O’ themed crafts and lots of construction.
We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and we look forward to learning together again next week!
