BOOK WEEK 2026 A SYMPHONY OF STORIES

This Book Week, our children celebrated the joy of stories through shared reading, storytelling, music, movement and imaginative play.

These experiences supported children’s language and communication, creativity, imagination and confidence, while developing a love for books and storytelling.

EYLF Outcomes 1, 4 & 5 — building confident learners, creative thinkers and capable communicators.

Every story inspires learning, and every child has a story to tell.

A big thank you to our amazing families for being involved and making Symphony of Stories extra special!

Family involvement in children’s learning helps create strong connections between home and the early learning environment. Through sharing books, stories and reading experiences, children build their language and communication skills, vocabulary, imagination, confidence and love of reading.

This also supports the EYLF Learning Outcomes, particularly Outcome 5 – Children are effective communicators, as children engage with stories, express their ideas, listen to others and develop an understanding of language and literacy.

We truly appreciate our families taking the time to be part of this special week. Your involvement makes learning more meaningful and enjoyable for our children!

EYLF Outcome 4 – Children are confident and involved learners.
As part of Science Week, the children explored sensory play through scooping, pouring, mixing and creating. They experimented with different materials, observed changes and used their senses to explore how things work.

This hands-on experience encouraged curiosity, problem-solving, fine motor skills, communication and confidence as children made predictions, explored ideas and discovered through play.

A Place Where Everyone Belongs

Every child deserves to feel safe, valued, loved and connected.

At our centre, we celebrate the unique stories, cultures, traditions and experiences that each family brings to our community. We love welcoming families into our learning environment and creating meaningful opportunities to share, connect and learn together.

Through strong relationships and a sense of belonging, children are supported to build confidence, resilience, independence and a growing sense of agency.

Because when children feel they belong, they feel confident to explore, learn, grow and shine.

EYLF Connections
Outcome 1.1 – Children feel safe, secure and supported.
Outcome 1.2 – Children develop emerging autonomy, inter-dependence, resilience and a sense of agency.

Today, our Juniors ventured out to explore our local shops, enjoying a valuable hands-on learning experience within their community. Excursions like these provide meaningful opportunities for children to connect their everyday experiences with their learning while developing confidence and independence.

Throughout the walk, the children practised road safety by identifying pedestrian crossings, holding hands, and staying aware of their surroundings. At the shops, they observed different businesses, engaged in conversations with community members, and strengthened their communication, listening, and social skills. They also practised patience, turn-taking, and following group routines, building important self-help and self-regulation skills.

These real-world experiences foster a strong sense of belonging and encourage children to become active participants in their community. By exploring environments beyond the classroom, children develop curiosity, problem-solving skills, and a deeper understanding of the world around them all while creating joyful memories with their peers.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing the Philosophy Wall at Learn and Laugh Rosebery, highlighting how our educational program is brought to life through the voices, ideas, and perspectives of our children.
Our Philosophy Wall reflects what matters most to our learning community. It showcases children’s thoughts, questions, discoveries, and experiences, demonstrating how they actively contribute to shaping our curriculum and learning environment.
We believe that meaningful learning happens when children are listened to, respected, and empowered to express their ideas. Stay tuned as we explore the values, practices, and child-led learning that make our educational program a living, evolving journey.
