It’s been a brilliant few weeks of colour, imagination, and literary wonder as we have celebrated Symphony of Songs Book Week across campus.

It kicked off in Week 5 as Senior School celebrated their inaugural dress-up day with a book-themed assembly featuring an engaging presentation from award-winning writer Maryam Masters, who encouraged our girls to never forget the magic of stories in a world which is being reshaped by technological advances like AI.

Junior School then took the mantle in Week 6 and 7 as students participated library workshops with renowned children’s authors Sarah Armstrong and Nat Amoore, who gave lively presentations which were well-attended.

This afternoon then saw our much-loved book parade. Parents proudly cheered on as students showcased an impressive range of costumes, from well-known figures such as Mary Poppins, through to more contemporary characters such as Claris, the chicest mouse in Paris.

Symphony of Stories has been a joyful reminder of the special place stories have in the lives of our students, and we are delighted that this continues to be shared with such enthusiasm and creativity!

Wow, what a night!

The inaugural Battle of the Bay netball showdown took place on Friday evening, and what a stellar occasion it was as KRB and Kambala came together to give it their all on the court!

The energy was electric as our two schools gathered in the MTC to cheer on the Junior and Senior teams. All teams produced incredibly strong performances, with the score being almost deadlocked across the duration of each match. As the final whistle blew however, it was pure elation as KRB secured the win in both matches.

The real victory, however, was for girls’ sport. The evening was a remarkable celebration of teamwork, determination and exemplary sportsmanship, with both sides competing admirably.

A big shoutout to Kambala for being such wonderful guests, it was a privilege to host to such an exciting event and we are proud to have begun what we hope will become a much-loved tradition between our two schools.

What an exceptional few weeks for KRB Sport, with our students achieving remarkable results while representing KRB, NSW and Australia across a range of sporting codes.

Portia S (Year 9) was named IGSA Junior Champion, while Azzuri (Year 7) set a new IGSA record in the 800m. Congratulations also to all our KRB athletes who competed at the IGSA Athletics Championships.

On the netball court, Sadie E (Year 9) represented NSW All Schools, winning Gold at the Australian Netball Championships, while Claudia J (Year 6) represented CIS at the NSWPSSA Netball Championships.

In the pool, Amelie Z (Year 9) represented Australia at the U16 Water Polo World Cup in Croatia, helping the team finish seventh, before earning MVP honours for CIS at the NSW Water Polo Exchange. Dora C and Mia H (Year 8 ) also represented NSW at the School Sport Australia Swimming Championships, with Mia now heading to Argentina to represent Australia at the World Aquatics Open Water Championships.

At the Australian Cross Country Championships in Ballarat, Azzuri was crowned National Champion, with Portia finishing 11th and Grace W placing 40th against the nation’s best.

On the slopes, Jessica G (Year 11), Charlotte G (Year 9), Alexia K (Year 9), Emma T (Year 8 ), Arabella D (Year 6) and Allegra A (Year 4) have all qualified for the Australian Interschools Snowsports Championships in September.

A brilliant collection of achievements from our KRB athletes, congratulations to all, and best of luck to those with National and international competition still ahead!

We were delighted to welcome our community to KRB last night as our annual HSC Showcase came to life!

The evening was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our students across a diverse range of disciplines. The night opened in the MTC as students proudly showcased major works from Design & Technology, Science Extension, Textiles and Design and Visual Arts. Visitors then moved to the Hughes Centre for History Extension and English Extension presentations and Music and Drama performances.

Head of Academic Excellence Lisa Patterson said each project reflected months of learning, problem-solving and commitment: "It was inspiring to see the journey behind every piece, many of which drew inspiration from personal stories and lived experiences."

In early August, Principal Erica Thomas, Head of Senior School Carrie Scanlan and Head of Admissions Shannon Kennedy travelled more than 1,600 kilometres across four days, visiting Griffith, the Southern Highlands, Dubbo and Wagga Wagga as part of KRB's Regional Road Tour.

The visit provided a valuable opportunity to connect with both current and prospective families, share updates from the School and hear firsthand about the experiences of families living in regional NSW. It was wonderful to see how much families appreciated KRB making the journey to their hometowns and taking the time to meet face-to-face.

Reflecting on the tour, Erica said the opportunity to spend time with families in their local communities reinforced the importance of maintaining strong connections across regional NSW.

It's been a wonderful week of discovery, experimentation and inquisitive learning as we celebrated National Science Week at KRB!

Our Science Department delivered an exciting program of lunchtime workshops, giving students the opportunity to explore scientific concepts through hands-on experiences and creative problem-solving. Activities ranged from building chia seed pets and growing crystals in an instant by combining sodium acetate with water, to making ice cream on the Harbour Terrace using liquid nitrogen and a Science Trivia Competition.

It was great to see so many girls getting involved, trying new things and having fun with science. The workshops were a fantastic way to explore ideas, ask questions and experience science beyond the classroom.

On Tuesday this week, our Year 12 students took part in Reset Day.

Focusing on wellbeing, connection and preparation, it was an opportunity to recharge and refocus as they approach the last stage of their academic journey, while continuing to celebrate the friendships and community that have shaped their Year 12 experience. They also enjoyed a few sweet treats in a delicious morning tea kindly provided by the Sacré Coeur Association.

The day featured a variety of activities, including sessions led by the Kidman Centre and Fledgling Careers on professional identity, alongside practical wellbeing sessions incorporating posture, stretching and yoga.

We wish our Year 12 students well as they near the finish line of their KRB journey!

What an exciting moment for Year 11 and for the future student leadership of KRB!
