🌊 Happy World Ocean Day!
Today we’re diving into language by learning three ocean-inspired words across the languages taught at NSL: ocean, waves and coral reef.
Our oceans connect countries, cultures and communities around the world. 🪸
Many languages, connected oceans.

Happy World Environment Day! 🌏🌱
Today, we celebrate the importance of caring for our planet and taking action, big or small, to protect the environment around us.
At NSL, our World Kitchen Garden is a wonderful reminder of sustainability, community and connection, bringing people together through planting, growing and learning.
Every small action contributes to creating a greener future. 🌿✨

National Sorry Day | 26 May
Today we pause to acknowledge the Stolen Generations, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who were forcibly removed from their families, communities, cultures and Country.
We honour Stolen Generations Survivors, their families and communities, and recognise the ongoing importance of truth-telling, healing and reconciliation.
Recently, a few staff members had the opportunity to hear from Kirli Saunders OAM, award-winning Gunai multidisciplinary artist and author of The Land Recalls You, a powerful story of returning, illustrated by Dub Leffler and David Cragg.
Through stories, learning and listening, we continue to acknowledge the experiences of the Stolen Generations and the ongoing importance of reconciliation.
Today, we reflect, we remember, and we continue to listen and learn.

Reconciliation Week begins next week.
As a school community, we are taking time to pause, reflect and listen.
A reflective space has been created at NSL to encourage engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives, truth-telling and the role we all play in Reconciliation.
This year’s theme, All In, reminds us that Reconciliation is a shared responsibility and that meaningful change happens when we all commit to listening, learning and taking action.
What is one meaningful action you could take to contribute to Reconciliation?
