Today at Early Beginnings Childcare, our children participated in a meaningful and engaging Child Safety learning experience focused on safe and unsafe photos and videos.
At Early Beginnings, we believe that child protection is everyone's responsibility. While our educators regularly participate in child protection training, we also believe it is just as important to empower children with the knowledge and confidence to understand their own rights in age-appropriate ways.
During today's experience, the children learned that they have the right to say "No" if they do not want their photo or video taken. We also talked about the importance of speaking to a trusted adult if someone asks them to keep a secret or offers them something special in exchange for keeping a secret.
To reinforce this learning through play, the children created their own cameras and explored the types of photos that are safe, respectful and appropriate to take.
These conversations help children build confidence, understand body autonomy, recognise safe and unsafe situations, and know that their voice matters. By introducing these important concepts in a positive, supportive environment, we are helping our children develop the skills they need to stay safe both now and in the future.
Keeping children safe is at the heart of everything we do, and we are proud to partner with our families to nurture confident, informed and empowered children.
