Local firefighters visited The Pines Academy Early Learning Centre, providing a valuable opportunity to build upon the knowledge gained from emergency evacuation drills and various safety discussions, including fire safety procedures. The children participated in an informative presentation by the firefighters and engaged in a hands-on experience with the water hoses. Thank you firefighters for visiting us and Pines family member organising this.

Reverse Garbage Incursion

Children enjoyed a fantastic loose parts play session with Reverse Garbage today! Using recycled materials such as PVC pipes, buckets, banners, and other reusable resources, children explored, created, problem-solved, and collaborated with their peers.

This open-ended experience encouraged imagination, creativity, confidence, communication, and risk-taking while highlighting the value of sustainability through play. We loved seeing the amazing ideas and creations that emerged from the children's curiosity and innovation! ♻️✨

Walking on the land- As part of Reconciliation Week , preschoolers attended a session at Campbelltown Art Centre focused on Aboriginal culture. Children observed first displays of baskets and artworks, following discussions on basket-making techniques, their purpose, including carrying babies, and the materials used. Following this, the children drew their own basket designs and items they would carry. After that children particpated in the clay making and exploring Aboriginal symbols through clay modelling.
Thank you very much hosting us and sharing the knowledge.

Reconciliation Week is in full action at our service. Throughout the week, educators have set up learning experiences that encourage children to explore First Nations cultures, perspectives, and ways of knowing, being, and doing. That includes exploring Aboriginal colours and symbols, followed by hands-on sensory experiences using natural resources such as leaves and herbs to create playdough. Through these play-based activities, children are developing creativity, fine motor skills, language, sensory awareness, and a deeper connection to the natural environment while learning about Australia’s rich Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.

EYLF Links:
Outcome 1: Children have a strong sense of identity as they develop a sense of belonging and respect for cultural diversity.
Outcome 2: Children are connected with and contribute to their world by exploring First Nations perspectives and developing respect for the environment.
Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners as they investigate, create, and learn through hands-on experiences.
Outcome 5: Children are effective communicators as they share ideas, ask questions, and engage in discussions about their learning.
