☀️ Day 1 of KB3 and the weather was absolutely perfect for orienteering! 🧭🌲
Orienteers were out exploring the stunning Western Blue Mountains eucalypt forest, tackling a mix of old farmland, steep terrain, rocky outcrops, and dramatic cliffs. ⛰️
🏃♂️Fantastic to see so many Bennelong Northside Orienteers team members out giving it their all and crushing the course! 🙌🔴⚪

FUN FACT #12!
🗺️ Australian orienteering maps are world-renowned for turning some of the most complex, hazardous, and beautiful landscapes on earth into navigable "Bush Art"!
Legendary Aussie mapper Eric Andrews famously used that phrase to describe the intricate process of mapping our wild terrain. Our competitors get to navigate highly unique features that you rarely see over in Europe.
Check out what makes Aussie bush maps so special:
The Blue Mountains: Navigating wild pagoda rock formations.
Queensland: Getting lost (and found!) in intricate granite labyrinths.
Victoria: Racing through historic gold-rush era sluice mining terrain.
What is your absolute favourite piece of "Bush Art" to navigate? Drop your favourite Aussie map in the comments below! 👇
