Ever had one of those "What should I be doing with my child?" moments? You might already have the answer at home.

🫧 Everyone Has a Bubble 🫧

At Goodstart Kellyville Ridge, child safety isn’t something we talk about once a year – it is embedded into our everyday practice, conversations and learning experiences.

Our children have been exploring the concept of personal boundaries and consent through our “Everyone Has a Bubble” project, learning that:
💙 Their body belongs to them.
💙 They can say “no” if they feel uncomfortable.
💙 Others need to ask before entering their personal space.
💙 Safe adults will listen and respect their choices.

Through children’s drawings, discussions and reflections, we are empowering children to understand their rights, develop their voice and build the confidence to speak up.

Creating child safe environments is everyone’s responsibility, and at Goodstart Kellyville Ridge we are committed to promoting child safety and wellbeing every day of the year.

The research is clear 📚 reading aloud is one of the most powerful things we can do for our children.

When we read with a child, we’re doing far more than sharing a story. We’re building the foundations for language, confidence, curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.

Decades of research shows that children who are read to regularly:

💛 Build stronger language skills
Hearing rich varied language in books exposes children to far more words than everyday conversation alone. This growing vocabulary helps them understand, communicate and make sense of the world.

💛 Develop early literacy skills long before they learn to read
Through stories, children learn how books work – that print carries meaning, that pages turn left to right, and that stories have a beginning, middle and end. These early understandings make learning to read feel familiar and exciting.

💛 Strengthen phonological awareness
Rhymes, rhythms and playful sounds help children hear the building blocks of language.

🖤💛❤️ Celebrating NAIDOC Week at Goodstart Kellyville Ridge ❤️💛🖤

Our preschool 2 room has come alive with this beautiful collaborative display celebrating this year’s NAIDOC Week theme, “50 Years of Deadly.”

Our Children explored the question “What Makes You Deadly?”, sharing their unique talents, strengths and aspirations through their artwork and reflections. Their voices remind us that every child brings something special to our community and has the power to shape the future.

Together, we created:
Handprints symbolising connection, belonging and community.
A vibrant rainbow serpent representing creation, life and our connection to Country.
🖤💛❤️ The colours of the Aboriginal flag celebrating Aboriginal identity and culture.
Inspirational Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander role models who continue to lead with strength, vision and legacy.

At Goodstart Kellyville Ridge, we are committed to embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into our everyday practices and creating opportunities for children to learn, connect and grow with respect for the world’s oldest continuing cultures.

World Cup Excitement at KVR!

Our Preschool children are full of excitement as they gathered together to watch the Australia vs Paraguay World Cup match! 💚💛

This special experience has
sparked wonderful conversations about teamwork, countries around the world, sportsmanship, and cheering each other on. The children proudly wore their green and gold, waved their flags, and enjoyed being part of the excitement while learning about this global sporting event.

Moments like these help children develop a sense of belonging, celebrate diversity, and share in the joy of major community events.

Learning through Storytelling & Culture

Today our children gathered together for a beautiful group learning experience, exploring Aboriginal symbols and storytelling through books, natural resources and meaningful discussions. 🖤💛❤️

Using stones and symbol cards representing elements such as mountains, rain, stars, waterholes and the sun and moon, the children were encouraged to observe, wonder and share their ideas as we explored connection to Country and the stories nature can tell.

These experiences support children to build a deeper understanding of culture, belonging, listening and respect, while encouraging curiosity, communication and a love of learning through shared group experiences.

We love creating opportunities for children to learn about and celebrate the rich histories and cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in meaningful and engaging ways.
